I've been to Disney dozens of times, but this will be the first we have had the dining plan (standard plan). There is this pesky snack credit I will get daily (or for the trip) and was wondering the best options to use this credit.

There are many ice cream sundaes and similar that are in the $4-$5 range as well as things like fresh made ice cream cookie sandwiches that are good value.
Cupcakes also often work out good as a snack and are sometimes big enough for two to share.
Generally look for anything with the purple DDP logo that is over $4.

There's a list on here that shows every possible snack option at each park and resort, along with the prices so you know if you are getting the best bang for your buck. Search "2014 snack list" it should come up. :)

Anything that costs between $4-5. Anything over $5 is a huge bargain.

The absolute best buy on snack credits is the food kiosks at Epcot during the Food & Wine Festival - if you pick the expensive items. The lobster roll costs more than $7 and still goes for one snack credit. Flower & Garden has food kiosks too - I don't think they have items that are as expensive as those offered at Food & Wine, since alcohol is excluded. They do have a few that are more expensive than the others.

If you're trying to maximize value it is best not to use them for anything that costs under $3.

Maybe not the best bang for the buck, but we often use our snack credit as breakfast...a warm cinnamon bun along with my mug of tea works for me!!

That list is awesome...thanks

We shoot for items that are at least $4 each to get the best value. If you are referring to them as pesky snack credits because you aren't big on snacking, your best value would be to get a pastry or something similar for breakfast. There are too many delicious snacks at WDW so we typically pay OOP for breakfast and then do a QS lunch and a TS dinner with a snack somewhere mid-day. We actually tend to just get 1 snack at a time and split it because portions are so large and it allows us to try more things.

DH won't use it on anything that costs under $3, with $4 and over being his "ideal snack range."

We've gotten lots of things. The funnel cakes at Sleepy Hollow were a generous size. I've gotten a coke float, a HUGE icecream sandwich between two cookies, candies at Karmel Kuche (spelling?), frozen lemonades, bags of candy at Goofy's, popcorn, a huge cinnamon bun, fruit cups, icecreams, etc. There are a ton of options.

On my previous trip, 5 years ago, I ended up using the snack credit to pay for breakfast. Since I didn't want anything too heavy, a bagel was considered a snack and I paid for the coffee, though I understand now with the refillable mug, I won't need to do that.

Root beer floats yumm like the idea we can use snack credits for food kiosk

When we were there last summer, AS sports was refurbishing the food court. We used our snack credits for breakfast.

We also use them for Mickey ears, cream cheese pretzels in Tomorrowland and pastries at the French pavilion and Mainstreet. Among many other options. You will find that they are not pesky. We've used them for water and coffee, too, but if rather use them for goodies. :)

Have fun.

We use a good 50-75% of our snack credits on check out day for candy, pastries, or fruit or the ride home. We always intend to use our credits, but usually forget to do so. We do the regular DDP and then pay for a couple of meals OOP and end up eating too much food. We cash in most of our snack credits at once.
We can't be the only ones who do this, can we?

My kids loved the create your own treats at Goofy's candy company, DTD...the rice Krispy treats are huge by the time you get all the chocolate and toppings on them. Also, we loved the pastries at the boardwalk bakery!

You can use a snack credit for the chili cheese fries at Pecos Bill's at MK, and they let you load them up with toppings from the toppings bar. Depending on what you put on there, it could make for a meal. We had those at around 4pm and were still almost too full for dinner at BOG that evening!
