I am looking to buy one of the unoffical guide books to help plan my 1st trip to WDW...which one is the best and most informative?

IMHO a Passporter & DIS is all you need.

Agreed, I am planning my first trip in twenty years. A friend let me borrow a 2006 edition of the Unofficial Guide, while this is an excellent read alot of the informaion there I had already read on the DIS forum while lurking.

OT - :welcome: davejr....1st post! :cheer2:

We've got Disney on a Dime, The Unofficial Guides (3 diff years), Disney For Kids, Disney Without Kids, The PassPorter....I get most of my info from the DisBoards!

I love the one by Bob Sehlinger (sp?) The 2007 edition is out, it has tons of information. :thumbsup2

I agree. I even take it on the trip with me to read in the room as a reference manual when I have no internet.

I think the OP meant any "unofficial guide", not necessarily the book titled "The Unofficial Guide"?

I like The Unofficial Guide book, but they are large and not that portable to carry around with you. The main advantage of this particular book is that they have scientifically determined the exact order to see the rides so as to minimize waiting in lines, and that's valuable if you are going at a crowded time. They provide multiple "touring plans" for each park. That's really the focus of that book, IMO.

If you like online planning and you have time before your trip, I recommend you subscribe to Tour Guide Mike. :thumbsup2

Go to the library and check them out. Then you'll see which format you like best. :thumbsup2

I love Unofficial Guide - we have Unofficial, Passporter (2003 & 2005) and Birnbaum's (purchased for the kiddos on clearance one year).

Have fun planning! It's my 2nd favorite part of the trip!

I like the Bob Sehlinger's Unofficial Guide and the Passporter. Not sure which I would choose if I could only buy one. They both do a good job reviewing restaurants, attractions and resorts. The UG has more information. The Passporter's maps are great. Good luck choosing.

I recently bought the Unoffical Guide 2007 and I just got it in the mail and started reading it. Its a bit over whelming, but its packed full of info!
