I'm not new to planning but I am new to looking at DVC. I'm trying to plan a trip for many in 2014, (I'm a planner, I like to start early..lol)

What recommendations do you have?

The best villa type would be a 2BR villa at any DVC resort. A 3BR would also meet your needs at greater cost but might be a lot more comfortable with that many adults.

Enjoy! :)

I agree; a two bedroom would work. But it really depends on the ages of the kids and if they are equally spread out between the 6 adults. For instance, we just stayed in a two bedroom villa at Kidani. We had nine people; 4 adults and 5 kids. 3 people stayed in each 'room'. We had the master with our youngest (2), our friends had the other bedroom with their two year old and the three kids (12,10, and 9) had the living room with the sofa bed and chair. So your situation would work best if at least two of the kids 'belonged' to one couple that way they all can stay in the bedroom with the two queen beds. Then one couple in the master perhaps with the infant and the other couple in the living room and if needed a child could use the chair bed. The nice thing about kidani, if you were to choose there, is that there are three bathrooms.
A three bedroom would be a lot more comfortable because of the privacy of being able to close the door but it all depends on how many points you have to use and want to use.
Have fun; I love the planning part!

We would be renting points? (hopefully) lol

The Kidani sounds like it should fit the bill. 2 adults w/ no kids. 2 adults w/3 yr old and us 2 adults, a 7 year old and a 14 month old...

What about the treehouses? Anyone stay in those?

I was just thinking about your trip. :) You probably will want to make an order with Garden Grocers. We bought breakfast items and kid items plus some snacks for the adults are that was a better way to go than using the little store Disney has. Don't know if you are flying or have a car with you.
We also had great experience with MouseConcierge for beer and wine.

Haven't stayed in a Treehouse, but the third bedroom has bunk beds. Not sure a Treehouse Villas would be comfortable for 6 adults.

In your case, I'd rent a one bedroom for your family, and two studios for the other families. That would give everyone a little bit of privacy. And each of you could handle your own rental instead of you being stuck when one of the parties backs out. Because they do.

If you go with the two bedroom, the two other families will have to share the second bedroom or one family will be in the living room. Will that mean hard feelings? And if you go with the two bedroom and a studio, who gets the separate studio? Again, would that be hard feelings?

Even if you go with a THV, one family gets the room with the bunk beds and they aren't really meant for full sized adults. Or someone again gets stuck with the living room. The THV only has two bathrooms.

I was just checking out the Kidani Village!! Oh man, does that look fabulous!

According to Disney it would cost approx $11,000 to stay for 10 days. Can anyone tell me how to find out how many points I would need to rent this? If that is even possible?

A grocery delivery would be a great idea! We would all be flying in..

2014 point charts aren't out yet, but you can find this year's and next years point charts here. It will give you a good idea of what the options would cost. :goodvibes
