what are the best table service meals in the magic kingdom covered by the DDP? we are looking for a place to eat the night that we get there and will probably be in the magic kingdom, but we are open to suggestions for a good restaurant covered by the DDP almost anywhere.

we were planning on eating at spoodles, but aren't quite sure that it will be our best option after the menu change.

thanks! :)

There are 3 resorts on the monorail line, each with TS options. Also, WL has a boat to the MK so its got easy access as well.
INSIDE the MK, is Liberty Tree Tavern, which is a family style character meal for dinner
Crystal Palace, a character buffet
The Plaza, which offers salads, burgers and sandwhiches (not to mention wonderfull ice cream treats for dessert
and there's Tonys, an italian restaurant on Main Street with Lady & the Tramp themeing, but no characters.

Spoodles new menu looks great. I highly recommend the place. We've had wonderful meals there, year after year, since it opened.

Note that the Sweetness' first instinct was to recommend that you eat OUTSIDE the MK rather than inside it. :) There isn't a "best TS in MK" because they're all pretty mediocre, and you need to go to one of the MK resorts to find a really good 1TS restaurant. If I had to choose between the best of the mediocre options in the park, I'd peg Crystal Palace and Liberty Tree Tavern about the same, Tony's a little below that.

At the resorts, Whispering Canyon at Wilderness Lodge is one of the quintessential Disney dining experiences. Food is great, service is okay, and you are part-of-the-show! Great fun for everyone. That would be my recommendation. Note that while there is boat service between MK and Wilderness Lodge, there is also bus service, and the bus service is generally a lot faster, if time is of the essence. I think that's the single best bus service at WDW (the connection between MK and WL).

we ate at crystal palace with my sons 1 & 4. we all loved it i thought the food was great. not sure if you have kids going but it is a great character dining experiance.

I'd take the monorail over to the Poly and go to the Kona Cafe for a "melt in your mouth" Filet Mignon - and maybe have the lump crab cakes to start as your appetizer - then finish with the molten chocolate Kilauea torte - then when the server brings the bill for you to sign and your copy shows $0, well, that's a great way to start feeling like the DDP is a wonderful plan! Then you could walk out on to the beach and grab a hammock to watch the fireworks over the water & the electric water pageant

Maybe throw in a couple pina coladas, etc (not included on the DDP of course), and you'll feel like you landed in Hawaii :goodvibes

I love LTT
Why not do your table service at Lunch
Burgers are great, pot roast good as well

I think it is fun to eat TS around lunch then do your counter service at night

just a thought

we love lunch at Liberty Tree Tavern on DDP - that turkey dinner they have, the Pilgrim's Feast, is the best deal! (along with the crab cakes appy)

Thanks everyone!

I think we've decided on Chef Mickey's. My mom ate there as a kid during her first stay at the Contemporary when she was 15 and since my sister and I are around that age we decided it would be a neat experience.

So now we just have to call and change that reservation.

We already have reservations for Cinderella's Royal Table-Dinner, Coral Reef-Lunch, Akershus-Dinner, Sci-Fi-Dinner, San Angel-Dinner, soon to be Chef Mickey's, and Ohana-Breakfast.

I can't wait. THREE WEEKS! :)
