Best TS dinner in DHS?

Is there a specific restaurant that would be really worth it to try for dinner at DHS? We have 2 boys, who will be 3 and 5 when we go back. We will have the basic dining plan as well, so cost will not be an issue as we will be pre-paid. I have thought about the Fantasmic package, but I am not sure I want to take my kids to that show just yet...afraid it may frighten them a bit and we will probably hold off until they are older. We're DVC members anyway so many future trips to look forward to...of course that is if Disney decides to still have the Fantasmic show in the future...hey you never know!

So what would you recommend for dinner? My kids behave very well in restaurants in general, and we always take them out to eat (to kid-friendly places of course!). We are also looking for good food of course! Even the dessert has to be really good but I never usually find a problem finding good dessert in Disney! Any suggestions? Thanks!

I think either Mama Melrose or Prime Time would be great. Both have good food.

We were really surprised by how much we enjoyed MM the last time we were there. Interesting menu, nice atmosphere and good food.

Have you considered SciFi. The food is pretty basic but its a lot of fun to sit in the cars and watch the "Drive-in Movies" up on the big screen. Your kids might really like it.

I have wondered myself about Mama Melrose. The only thing is, we are from Brooklyn, NY and used to VERY good Italian food so I am afraid we would be disappointed (DH and I...not the kids, they are easy to please!). We have considered Tutto in Epcot for Italian, since in the WS the CMs are from those countries. But if the food is that good at MM we would be willing to give it a try.

Sci-Fi also interested us. How is the food quality there? Basic menu items are fine, as long as it tastes good. I saw on their menu that they have ribs there which DH and I both love. And we are from Brooklyn, NY so we are not used to "authentic" BBQ, meaning that we are not so picky about ribs as someone from North Carolina or Texas may be since they are so good in those places. Not really a specialty in NYC!

Prime Time seems cute too. How is their food?

Any food in particular you would recommend from any of the above 3 places for dinner, including the desserts? Thanks again!

We really enjoy Prime-time and Sci-Fi (have not done MM yet). Admittedly it's more about the dining experience than the food itself but the food has been fine.

The 50's Prime Time is good. I had the pot roast last time and it was wonderful. Kind of a comfort food menu there that usally has something for everyone on it. Deserts are really good there too. Wait staff reminds you to keep elbows off the table, sit up straight, etc... in a very playful way too.

We all enjoyed 50's Prime Time. We were a group aged 3 to 66.

My dd's 3 and 5 at the time tell me often that H&V was there favourite but we did do lunch there with the playhouse disney characters.

We went to Prime Time for lunch spur of the moment on our last trip and really enjoyed it...I had the pot roast. It was very similar to my Mom's. DH had the chicken sandwich and said it was good and DS had the fried chicken...it was very moist and tasty. We also loved the brownie sundae for dessert.

We liked Mama Melrose too...its not really authentic Italian but good.

Sci Fi was good. We went to experience the theming and burgers.

Out of all, I like I would recommend Prime Time...

Thanks everyone for all the info! Out of all the places, Prime Time looks like it would fit us most, atmosphere sounds cute! I checked out the menu and it looks good too.

Now one other question...if we are not planning to go to Fantasmic, is it worth it to go back to DHS just for dinner? We will be staying at Boardwalk Villas, so we could walk to DHS or take the boat, very easy to get there and shouldn't take too long. Or should we just stay in the Boardwalk and Beach Club area and take advantage of the restaurants there? Are they much better as far as food? I know Yachtsman's Steakhouse or Flying Fish would be, but we are not planning to go to a Signature restaurant on this next trip. Also, we won't have park hoppers or annual passes, so Epcot restaurants are not a choice on a day we go to DHS. We are planning a 10-night trip, with 2 days at DHS so we could fit in all the scheduled attractions and shows (one day was nice back in July, but we felt another day would be better), and we are already planning to hit Beaches & Cream, Spoodles and Cape May Cafe for 3 of our dinners on that trip, in addition to anything we may do at DHS for dinner.

First: I love 50s Prime Time. It's a must do for our family Plus, if the kids misbehave, you have "help" there

Second: If you don't plan on doing Fantasmic, I highly recommend scheduling the dinner for a night when it's not showing.

If you are not going to be at the park, I would not go back there for dinner. Why not stay close to the resort or maybe even go to DTD for dinner. We love Raglan Road.

Is Raglan Road on the DDP? If not, it's really no big deal...we are doing a couple of extra TS meals anyway due to a couple of character breakfasts. So we could always pay OOP for Raglan Road if it is not on the DDP and use a TS credit for a character breakfast.

I like Primetime. I know when Dh and I took my nephew and he was 4 at the time he had a blast. He still calls my Dh- Butch, Me- Peaches, and himself- Spanky (that is what our waitress was calling us)

Okay, so if we do decide to stay in DHS for dinner, we're narrowed down to Sci-Fi or Prime Time. We are doing 2 days at DHS so we could do both technically. Seems that they have different food choices on their menus so I don't think we would be bored going to both. Seems also that the kids would be well-entertained at Prime Time! Don't know though if I could bring myself to eat pot roast in a restaurant! How is their fried chicken? Not too greasy I hope.

Maybe we should just try his CS location one day for lunch (we are planning to check out the stores and the DTD area one afternoon on a day we are not going to a park).

We have been to RR twice and loved it both times. They have always recommended the seafood entrees since that is flown in daily. I have gotten the Not Bleedin Chowder the two times and it is awesome...DH got the steak and then burger and DS had the kids chicken the one time and then the fish and chips. Everything has been wonderful and most people love the place. (I have pics if you want to see them).

I have never been to either of the Wolfgang Puck places but every time I see pics from the CS place, I want to make it a point to get there. Everything always looks great and people rave about it too.
