My family and I are planning a tropical vacation next Feb and we are looking for a resort on a beautiful tropical beach. We have already gone to Mexico. We want white sand, blue, blue-green water. Any suggestions?

Thanks :sunny:

Half Moon in Jamaica. Simply Stunning.

Horseshoe Bay in Bermuda. Very nice "pink sand" and turquoise water.

One of the prettiest beaches we've vacationed at was Our Lucaya Beach on Grand Bahama Island in the Bahamas. We stayed at the Westin Our Lucaya Beach Resort which is located directly on the beach. The sand was very fine and very white. The water was blue/green and warm. We were there in late May a few years ago and it was not crowded at all. In fact, we had an entire section of beach all to ourselves. The resort also has gorgeous pools that almost blend in with the sand and ocean. There is outside dining and lots of water activities if you're interested in that sort of thing. We walked down the beach and found a nice little outdoor place to eat lunch. I think it was called Billy's Bar and Grill, or something like that. They cooked burgers on old drum/grills and had a group of local guys playing Carribbean type music on handmade instruments.

Having said all that, the rest of Grand Bahama Island didn't really impress us. There isn't really a lot to do. There is a small casino if you like to gamble. My husband and I spent too much time in there!! One day we took a shuttle bus to Paradise Cove and spent the day snorkeling there. That was also a gorgeous beach and very private.

If you plan to spend most of your time on the beach, then you might like Our Lucaya.

Grace Bay Beach on the island of Providenciales in Turks & Caicos.

We've been all over the Caribbean and this is hands down the most beautiful water and sand we've seen anywhere.

Many beaches on Anguilla (Mead's, Shoal Bay East, Rendezvous, Maunday's)

White Bay, Jost van ****, British Virgin Islands :sunny: :sunny:

Edited to explain censored word: The name of the island seems to have failed the political correctness test. It's Jost van Tyke (substitute D for T).

Ditto Word for Word.

I also have to agree on any beach on St. John in the USVI.

DITTO and it was the first place that jumped into my head! There's no beach anywhere as beautiful as the beaches of St. John!!

To be more specific-I love Trunk Bay, St. John

I've never seen any beach and water as beautiful as Grace Bay, either.

I enjoyed a vacation on St. John a few years ago. I think that the name of my favorite beachs were Oppenheimer and Maho.

Most St. John beaches are on National Park land. This is good for care and maintenance. The down side is that there are no hotels on the nicest beaches and you need to drive to them. The parking lots and picnic groves made them feel a little less 'tropical' to me. JMHO

If you stay at Caneel Bay on St. John you have beautiful beaches right outside your door. My favorite is Scott Beach. It's not a resort for everyone though--there is no TV, there are no phones in the room, and it's expensive.

My favorite St. John National Park beach is Francis Bay.

Magens Bay is on St. Thomas, not St. John, and it's a very nice beach. It's popular with the cruisers though so it can get a big crowded. Sapphire Beach is another nice beach on St. Thomas. There are more secluded, private beaches if you hunt them out. Trunk Bay in St. John is a nice beach, but again if you get away from the touristy areas, there are just as beautiful and less crowded beaches. And don't forget Hawaii! It has some of the bluest water I've seen! I've only been to Oahu, and again, if you get away from the tourist traps and go to the other side of the island you'll find white sand and crystal clear water, and very few people. Good luck planning your trip!

Thank you for the correction!!!!

We must have been lucky - we were there off a cruise and practically had the place to ourselves..maybe because we shopped first and went to the beach a little later in the day!!!! I would go back there in a heart beat - just might this fall!!!! We aren't the type to go for secluded - and with an 8 yr old in tow this time around - the snack shack will be nice....at least a few years ago they had excellent food and a nice gift shop....hope it is still the same!!!!:sunny:
