Hi all-

We (two adults and two young kids) will be flying from Seattle to Orlando to do 7 day Magic in Oct.
We want to be there at least a day before the cruise and will probably fly out on the day of disembarkation (so Fri - next Sat).
I have been checking Expedia but the airfair is around $490 per person.
It is going to be a long flight, so we want to fly direct.

Any tips on finding cheaper air tickets?

I hear Priceline is good, but I don't know exactly how it works.
It is like other online travel agency like Expedia, or is it different?

Your help will be greatly appreciated.

TIA!

I use http://www.sidestep.com/air/ to check on flights and fares. It checks mostly all the airlines. It doesn't check Southwest so you need to check their website seperately

i found cheaper for you on Travelocity.com
i dont know exact dates but i tried oct and i got $330 per person

hope this helps

Thank you all for your input! :thumbsup2
I really appreciate it.

Our actual date is Oct 19 - 27.
The best fair so far is Travelocity $400.

Someone e-mailed me privately and told me (Thanks, W!) about Yahoo Travel's "Best Fare Tracker".
You can make your "My Yahoo" page to show the currect best rate for a certain destination(s) so that when you see the price that is low enough you can just go grab it.
Bad news is that it does not give you the option of selecting "non-stop flight only".
Travelocity has the similar service.

wait a bit...those rates were just released...there is a good chance they will go down some. Not a guarantee, but keep checking back! There is no rush for you to buy now if you don't travel for another 10 months!

I check numerous locations. I have fare watcher for Travelocity and Expedia. I also check the indidual airlines sites as well. I booked tickets on NWA site for 150.00 roundtrip from St Louis to Orlando. We used to live in Spokane, Wa and I always got better deals on expedia. Good luck.

I have had the best success booking directly on the airline's website.

I've heard a number of reports that the travel websites don't have lower rates all that often. And watch out for Priceline....you might get a good deal but they really aren't negotiable.

For instance, a hotel reservation. If you do it directly thru the hotel, you can cancel without any consequence up until the nite you're supposed to check in. Not the case w/ Priceline.

Can you use Southwest? They're my fav.

Just throwing in some dates near the end of booking dates for Southwest finds round trip at $258 per person. Considering the possibility of a DING! could lower it substantially more. Both coming and going have stops and plane changes in MDW, but if the price is right, probably worth the hassle.
