I find that looking at decorating websites or watching a show on HGTV gets me motivated to clean. That and the thought that a neighbor or friend might stop by.
Start with the room you spend the most time in. Maybe go out and buy a couple of scented candles for the room, rent a good movie for the night. That'd make me want to clean the room. Also - the last time I watched the A & E show 'Hoarders' I got up and started cleaning right away!

When there are no more clean dishes in the house...true story lol...I went on dishes strike last month for a week (tired of being the only one doing stupid dishes around here)..then I finally broke when there were no more cups, plates or silverware clean! I did however make a new rule that if you use it, YOU wash it as it dirties and that has been working so far...
Upbeat music - the louder the better.. Sing and dance your way through your chores..
Don't try to tackle everything at once.. Make a list.. Start with the most important things first.. Break the jobs down into smaller tasks on your list.. Each time you complete a task, cross it off your list.. It will give you a sense of accomplishment when you see that you have items crossed off..
