Best tips for Mickey's Halloween Party

I'm going to MHP tomorrow night and would love to hear your tips! :) Thanks!

Have a light dinner there is plenty of candy lol...

What a great idea! I've been trying to pay attention to various MHP threads for party info but if anyone has more tips to leave here, I'd love to see them.

Get to the gates as soon as you can for the party, there will be specially marked gates. It takes awhile to get through as you get your wrist band and candy bag right away. The put out the special halloween party merchandise at party start time so if you want something, don't wait as it may sell out. The lines to the treat trails were so long at the very beginning, just wait and they'll shorten, unless candy is a main focus and you are scared it will run out. We only went to 2 or 3 trails and got more candy then we could want. FP's don't work, so don't collect them to use at the party. We missed the pirate dance party which I didn't find out about until closing, so bummed, I would have loved that. Plan out what you really want to do, whether it be trail's, character's, dance parties, rides, and focus on that first. The night went by so fast for us, it was amazing, and we missed out waiting for things I wish we didn't have, this was on 10/2 and it wasn't sold out.

Have fun, it's a blast.

I'm going tommorow night too!!:hyper: one of things I did was do each treat trail twice to get alot of candy. It should start clearing out by 8:30pm.

Make sure to get a party map when you enter and hang on to it -- they are hard to find later on in the evening. There are good copies of the map available here, so take a look and discuss with your group what the priorities are. There is no way to do everything available at one party (especially if it's sold out), so make sure to choose what is important to you, know where to find it in the park, and go for it! If a prime spot for fireworks is a must, be willing to sacrifice the time to stake out your spot. The second parade usually has a much lower crowd level, so wait for that one if you can. Above all, be prepared for the crowds, be flexible, and have fun!

If you want to see the early parade sit near the big pumkpin on main street and ask the photopass photographer if you can have the space in front of the pumpkin when he is done taking photos. We were near there with the kids and the photographer actually offered to save the space for us. When he was done many people tried to rush into that spot but he told them it was already taken. The parade will come right at you down main street - it was such an awesome view! We only waited there about 15 minutes before the parade, and there is a treat trail right there (on the other side of the pumpkin) you can send the kids too if they do not want to wait with you. Enjoy!

The put out the special halloween party merchandise at party start time

I went to the party on the 5th, and on the 4th I saw plenty of "exclusive" pins, etc out....

IMO, pick a focus and do that. If it's the cheap candy, focus on that. I'm sure you can get your money's worth, IF you eat that candy. My family doesn't, and left a huge amount in the room b/c there are ingredient issues. (as to why we trick or treated to begin with, talk to the males in my family...it was NOT my vote and in fact I put my foot down and stopped it at trail #5 but by that time everyone's feet hurt too much to do more)

If you want the parade and fireworks, plan on that and don't get sidetracked.

If you want to dance, ride rides, etc, do that and don't get sidetracked.

There was just SO much to do, and honestly being there at 4 did nothing for us but exhaust us. I wish, in retrospect, that we had NOT done that. Bad decision for us. Should have arrived for the start time so we could be fresh and foot-happy! As it was, we left, in foot AGONY (all three of us, stupid shoe decisions made b/c of costumes...my blister is still healing!), immediately after the fireworks. :(

. . . FP's don't work, so don't collect them to use at the party. . .

What?! How did I miss this?

I planned on doing just this earlier in the day, to avoid the longer lines during the party! (Specifically for SM and ST.) So does this mean they simply close down the FP lines for rides that offer them after 7p?

We used fastpasses for Space Mountain and Splash Mountain, so they do not close down the fastpass lines.

Yes but, it's a short parade. I wasn't impressed with it. It's the same every year since I saw it for the first time in 2006.

Do you know if its the same one they have in wdw?

No, it is a cavalcade (meaning a much shorter parade with few floats, mostly walking groups of characters). If you are expecting a full parade like at WDW, you probably will be disappointed. But, if you are open to a cute, quick Halloween treat, the calvacade is fun. And it is not scary or spooky at all, so even the smallest kids can enjoy it. For me, just seeing the Country Bears in tutus was so much fun. :)

Could someone post a copy of the party map/brochure? Or point me in the right direction where I could find it. It would be really helpful to try and plan in advance. Thanks! :)

Girimama33.....Thanks so much! First time to DL and going to the party on Tuesday. Judging from the crowd reports, it's a good idea to have a game plan ahead of time!

We are going to the Tuesday party too! pirate: It will be my first MHP, but not my first time to DL.
Definitely have a game plan.
For me, I want a good spot for the fireworks and maybe the cavalcade...and then a little bit of everything else.
Still trying to figure out the timing because I don't want to spend most of the party saving a spot either.
Have fun!

We were at the party this Monday night, 10/15.

The heat meant we nixed the costumes we brought and went in comfortable clothes (no little ones in our group). We arrived at 6:00, no wait through the gates and avoided the crushing crossover crowds in the heat of the afternoon. Going a bit later was worth it to us as we stayed until close without feeling exhausted.

The lines for the candy were INSANE at that point. We walked through a ton of candy lines at the end of the night and they were pouring the stuff into our bags there was so much left over. If you aren't leaving early, that's the way to stock the house for trick or treaters with no wait.

We hit up Space Mountain (minimal wait) and Star Tours, wandered and took pictures, and sat down for the parade about a half hour before it started in front of the Penny Arcade. There was still plenty of spaces along the curb at that point. It's a cute parade, nothing fancy, and definitely not to be confused with WDW's. It runs from the back of the park, so it will hit Main Street about 8:40

If you want to see this as well as the fireworks (9:30) in the center of Main Street, don't plan on going anywhere in between. We walked up from the Penny Arcade to the area just before the hub splits around the Partners statue and found people sitting and waiting. We joined them since the special fireworks show was at the top of my list. To be able to see Jack Skellington, master of ceremonies, don't get too far back on Main Street or the trees will block your view.

After that, we went over to Fantasyland, on the right side towards the teacups and waited for the area to open back up. If you stand near the CMs there, a line forms which they rope off so when it reopens you get to go in ahead of the hoards and walk straight on to Peter Pan.

We did most of Fantasyland after the fireworks with no wait, as well as the Matterhorn Bobsleds, and hit up the candy lines around 10:30, just walking through without stopping.

hope that helps!
