Best tips for Mickey's Halloween Party

We hit up Space Mountain (minimal wait) and Star Tours, wandered and took pictures, and sat down for the parade about a half hour before it started in front of the Penny Arcade. There was still plenty of spaces along the curb at that point. It's a cute parade, nothing fancy, and definitely not to be confused with WDW's. It runs from the back of the park, so it will hit Main Street about 8:40

If you want to see this as well as the fireworks (9:30) in the center of Main Street, don't plan on going anywhere in between. We walked up from the Penny Arcade to the area just before the hub splits around the Partners statue and found people sitting and waiting. We joined them since the special fireworks show was at the top of my list. To be able to see Jack Skellington, master of ceremonies, don't get too far back on Main Street or the trees will block your view.

We saw the fireworks first, and then the cavalcade. The parade came from the front of the park for the second show.

Mary Jo, If you don't mind me asking...Where were you during the fireworks? Did you have a good view of the castle (left)? What time did you stake out your spot?

Thanks for this thread! We will be there on the 26th--first party, first DL trip. I'm a bit nervous about the crowds for the party and my kiddos. But very excited!

Hi Dopeygirl! :wave2:
We will be there for the 1st time, 1st party on the same day! Let's hope for the best!

We will be there for the party on the 23rd. Thanks for the tips. We were there last year but it sounds like this year will be much more crowded

We did the party on the 19th and yes, you can use FP. We used them on Space Mountain (that we got earlier that morning). They don't give them out at the party, I believe.

We stayed over in Tomorrowland, Fantasyland and Main Street and I didn't find it to be that crowded at all. We got into the TOT (and Phineas & Ferb M&G) right as the party started (we over by there) and it moved so fast. The lines seem long, but they are constantly moving and all have about 6-7 treat stations. Like I said, we used our FP for SM, walked on Star Tours and BLAB. Walked out of Tomorrowland to see the calvacade starting and were able to grab great seats 10 minutes before it started. From there, we headed to Matterhorn (DH rode with the older two) while I took the little ones through the TOT stations there. From there, we headed down Main Street and did some more TOT and my older did the M&G with all the villains, which made them immensely happy! It's all my oldest wanted to do.

We had small kids with us, so staying until the end was not in the cards for us, but we still had a great time. And we came home with a giant Disneyland shopping bag full to the top of candy!

So glad to hear about the previously obtained FP working during the party. I can accept that they do not issue any new FP's during the party hours.

I'm with your oldest! Can't wait to see my favorite Villian - Cruella!

Thanks for your post.

I've done the HWP 4 times this season so far, and there's one detail you have to verify if you're planning your day w/ FP's. And that is WHEN they decide to let people in for the Halloween Party, cuz as soon as they decide that, the FP's stop being issued. The earliest we got entry for the HWP was 3:15 and that was on a Tuesday. The 6:00 time listed on the tickets is not set in stone for the start of entry. I know the CM discounted tickets have sold out for this coming weeks dates, so I'd expect it to be a busy week.

As for when we went, the longest line we waited on was Haunted Mansion for appx. 25 mins, so the FP's were irrelevant to us. But again, we're not vacationers, so it's not of importance to us. I hope it works out well for you all!

And hanging out by Small World isn't a bad plce for fireworks. They launch them right above Toontown and they display a nice little show on the Small World in conjunction ;-)

Hhmmm. . . This is me simply thinking out loud, but I wonder if they stop giving out the FP's when the return time would be beyond the 7pm party start time? Or if it is directly related to the early entry time for the party goers. (3p or 4p depending on party date)
Oh well, at least now I know to collect our desired few FP's BEFORE the 4pm "official" entry time for our party date.

Thanks for the guidance!

A few questions... (we're going tonight!)

Is the candy much different at each TOT station? If so, are there any we shouldn't miss?

Where is a good parade and fireworks spot? I assume most people go in front of the castle. Any "secret" good spots?

Any good themed food? Any that isn't available outside of party hours? How about cool merchandise?

Thanks!

We went to the 10/19 party and did notice the candy was a little different in each of the treat trails, but it didn't very much. There were some cast members that were very generous with the candy and put handfuls in our bags and others that put one or two. The healthly snacks where different in the treat trails.

My grand kids, daughter, son-in-law, husband and myself went to the 10/19 Party. I had a good time but----- now is the part of the party that clinched my never going back for the halloween party again. TO MANY PEOPLE. I am sure the grand kids and parents will return again -- sure pays to be young. I must admit I had a great time trick or treating. I have not done that in over 48 years. I saw plenty of older trick or treaters with no youngins' any where near.

We saw some very clever costumes. My husband and I went as "old people' Oh wait we are old people. Ok I didn't dress in a clever costume but I was still given handfuls of candy at each station. I found I needed to ask for the healthy choices or would be blessed with a generous amount of sweet treats.

My daughter spent some time doing photopass with the characters before we hit the treat trails.

I was so amazed that where there is a pumpkin showing on the DL map there is actually maybe 10 treat stations set up in a route that kept everyone moving. I had one of the candy bags full of treats after only doing 3 trails. I honestly thought that there would only be one candy stand in each area. Silly Me.

Daughter did stand in line for the 5 year old grand daughter to visit with the princesses to only wait for over and hour to then have all the ladies leave the area at same time :(. Not sure how or why that happened but try exp-laining that to a 5 year old. No crying -- just big disappointment.

One of the sweetest costumes we saw was a toddler dressed in her Cinderella finest with Prince Charming pushing her carriage-stroller-- so very sweet. Some Daddy's go beyond for their Princesses.

I soon became aware that many of the party guests were locals. IMO it might be spendy but for a safe trick or treating experience for kids I am sure it was money well spent.

If you get the chance to go trick or treat also take some time to notice the costumes the children have on.
