I'm wondering when would be the best time to go to Shutters to pick out a couple of pictures. I only plan on buying 1 or 2 of the 6x8 size. If I wait until later in the cruise will all my pictures still be available? Will I be looking through hundreds of pictures to find mine? And won't all the pictures be covered with finger prints if everyones digging for theres?

Also, when is the best time to pay the tips? Do you hand each person their envelope on the last evening? Is it awkward doing that?

Thanks!

I personally went to shutters daily. You can group all your pictures together on a daily basis, and whenever you are ready you can purchase the ones you want, and discard the ones you don't. The choice is yours, you can purchase daily, and discard daily. The last night the line ups are forever!!!

We tip the last night, in the envelopes provided by your room steward. These envelopes are clearly marked, Head Waiter, Waiter, etc... You can go to guest services and prepay at any time. Again, the line ups on the last night are insane... :sad2:

We enjoy to give our tips out personally the last night, and thank them for such excellent service.

You should stop by Shutters at a minimum of every other day to look for your pictures. They are displayed by "theme" (embarkation day, restaurants, pool, character greetings, etc). So when you find pictures of you and your family, pick them up and continue looking. Once you've found them all if there are some you know that you do not want, toss them into the containers that are in Shutters for that purpose. You can try "stacking" your photos together -sometimes they stay together - just make sure you put the most receint photos on top. The time to AVOID Shutters is the last night of the cruise - it's an absolute madhouse in there!! ::yes::

For the waitstaff when you are at the last dinner. No, it's not awkward - it's when they expect it. For your room steward, just find him/her sometime on the last evening and HAND them your tip. Word here on the DIS is that if you leave cash tips for your room steward in your room when you leave the ship that they MIGHT NOT get it. Onshore help comes onboard to help clean rooms and they sometimes pocket the cash:(

I'm not sure if you have to purchase the package, but the cm told me to buy the pictures we wanted and then exchange it for another if we found something we liked better.

We hand out our tips on the last evening. We charge them to our room the day we get the envelopes. If you go during the day, when everyone is on deck 9 & 10 the line isn't too long.
