Best time to visit HHI

Looking for opinions on the best time to visist HHI.

We would primarily like to go to the beach, pool and DH will probably golf a couple of times.

Do you have to work around school schedules or are you open for dates? Is it just the two of you, or are there children going as well?

If it's just the two of you, I'd suggest early September -- right after Labor Day -- the crowds will be gone and unless there's a hurricane to dodge, you should have great weather. Backup recommendation would be the month of May, but before Memorial Day -- the only thing is that the ocean won't be warmed up yet!

I'm a part-time resident of HH, so here's my experience:

Personally, go in the summer months when the ocean is a lovely 84 degrees.

It rains a lot in June.

Aim for July (most crowded!)

or August

or even the 1st or 2nd week in September, (hurricanes taken into consideration), the water is still warm.




If you don't care about swimming in the ocean, and just want to take walks on the beach, almost any time of year is wonderful.

We're going the first week of April. I'm sure the ocean isn't warm yet, but it's not cold there then is it? Are there plenty of activities that time of year?

It will be me, DH, and 2 DS (one will be 6 and the other 2 1/2). The kids will definately want to swim in the ocean...so I guess July or August will be better.

Yeah -- after this years's hurricane season -- I DEFINITELY think that Sept should be added to "Adventure Season" -- yeow.


We want to go to HHI in March and have it feel like July (it would be nice to snow bird some from the Great White North). Sure looks like a great resort.

There will be plenty of activities. April is almost as busy as the summer, since a lot of people go to HH for spring break.

We are usually there the first week of April as well. Some years it's in the 80s and feels like summer (except for that ocean!); other years, we have had to wear jackets and raingear all the time!!
