I will be at Hollywood Studios the night of May 17th and they have fantasmic at both 9 and I believe it's 10:30, I don't mind a crowd at fantasmic, but I'm curious if seeing it at 9 will leave for less crowded rides during the 10:30 show or if we wait to see the 10:30 will the rides be less crowded at 9? Anyone have any insight?

DHS closes at 10:00 so no rides will be operating during that time. Fantasmic often begins 30 minutes after the park closes.

The attraction lines are at their very shortest during the early presentation of Fantasmic. Also, the Fantasmic stadium is much less crowded for the 2nd performance.

We like to hit the headliners again while the bulk of the crowd is at the early show. For example, last summer we visited Toy Story at about 9 pm. The posted wait time was 70 minutes, but the actual wait was closer to 15. We were able to ride 4 times in about an hour and still had plenty of time to make it to the 2nd Fantasmic after the park closed. The amphitheater was no more than half full.

Another night we let the kids ride Tower of Terror 13 times with literally no waiting, other than the preshow of course, from 8 - 10 pm. I got tired of it after 4 or 5 trips and just sat on a bench watching them run by every few minutes. I think the posted wait time was 20 minutes.

Rock N Roller Coaster seems to hold a line later that the other rides though. About 3 trips in the last hour of operation is our average.

We went to the later show last week, and they didn't even open the ampitheater until less than a half-hour before start time because they were still cleaning from the first show!

It's a huge difference, because they recommend arriving 1 or 1 1/2 hours before the first show and then you sit there.

So arrive late to the second show, and still get decent seats!

Thanks so much! Definitely helps me feel safer about my decision to see the later show after park closing!

That's awesome! I really didn't want to have to wait more than a half hour for fantasmic so that's great to hear! Last time I went, when there was only one showing, we had to sit all the way in the back, tons of kids running around and things in the way. I've only seen the show once but I feel like I've never seen it because of all the distractions around us. (A fight between two Dads broke out when one's son couldn't see...)

the second show is always a better option. The crowds will be diverted towards F! sow at 9pm and also Symphony in the Stars Star Wars fireworks at 9:30pm, so the lines for attractions should be manageable

Toy Story closes early on fireworks nights. You'll have to hit that one on a week night if you want multiple re-rides.
