Hi, everyone. I've searched the forum and can't seem to find the answer to my question.

When is the best time to see animals in the savannah at AKL/AKV?

Thanks :)

Usually in the early morning or in the evening at dusk.
However we just came back and had good success during a run at about 10:30 am.
We were able to see a male and a female Lion.

Wow! There are predators on the savannahs? I had just assumed that there wouldn't be any predators there for the safety of guests and the other animals on the savannah.

Really? On the room-view savannahs at AKV?? Kool!

Our savannah view studios have primarily been on Arusha savannah, and it seems to be cleaned in the morning.maybe 9-noonish and there aren't many animals out there during that time.

When we were there in Sept. we saw the most animals early morning and at dusk. With the lighting it was possible to see them in the evening after the sun was down. I think the heat that time of year also had something to do with not seeing them during the middle of the day.

I think Theoarn must have been talking about the lions on the K. Safari Ride at AK park.

The animals are out most of the day (and night) except for when they take them in for 2 hours in the morning to check the animals, etc. They rotate each savanna. A couple years ago it was 6:30am for Uzima, 8:30 for sunset and 10:30 for Arusha. The best time to see the animals are when they are feeding them at various spots close to the lodge; the morning and early evening.

In Aug, we got into our room around 4 pm and there were a good amount out between 4 and dusk. Then in the morning there was a good amount as well. We noticed the least amount between like noon and 3 pm. We overlooked the Uzima savanna.

My mistake.
I am sorry to mislead you.
I was speaking of the Animal Kingdom Safari Ride.

At AKV feeding time is a good time since the rangers try to feed the animals in an area where they can be seen.
Also first light and dusk is when they move around.

4:00ish - we spoke to the animal keepers. They work 12 hour shifts and around 4 the AM shift feeds all the animals so they can get a good look/count to give a status report when the evening shift arrives.

The CM we spoke to said that it's timed to create maximum Disney "magic" because typically guests return to the resort after a morning/early afternoon in the park and are napping/swimming/changing for dinner and will be most likely to see lots of animals.
