Hello, everyone!

We just got back from our first family trip to Disney World!! We stayed offsite, at Orange Lake Country Club. It was nice, but next time we are definitely staying on property! We love to camp, and it sounds like FW is the answer!! My husband would die if he knew I was already looking into going again! I think I have an addiction now! We were there Jan.4-14. Weather was great, but the parks closed early. When is the best time all-around to camp? I was originally thinking May, but it may be too hot, lots of rain and bugs. When is YOUR favorite time to go?

Thanks,
Marita

Any day that ends with "y"! We also love to camp and have found that Ft. Wilderness is the least expensive way of going. We hitch up our camper and go at the drop of a hat. Camping, you use your own stuff and we also eat almost every meal at the camper saving on $$$. We are going June 11 and staying until July 31 this year!!! (unemployed mother of 6 and excited dad willing to pay for the trip to have 6 weeks of peace and quiet at home) It does not take long to become addicted.

Every month is good at FT W. Worst times crowd wise are MAJOR holidays. To me its totally worth it to stay on Disney property. Far as the campgrounds it doesn't get much better than FTW. Like the other poster mentioned you can 'save' money to by eating at your site. (Nice cooking area/tables/privacy. Theres a walmart and publix near by where you can shop. The 'fresh' food at FT.W trading post is limited and of course double if not more in price. Most rv'rs do this.
Alot depends on what kind of camping equipment you have. If you have air conditioning then its great all year round. Far as bugs, FT W does spray and basically we just use repellents and such during summer months. Even then its usually not that bad.
May is a nice month really to go.
It just depends on what kind of weather you are use to. The summer months have some of the cheapest rates. Though, its pretty hot to be standing in line at the theme parks. Most people work around the 'heat'. They go early in the morning, then head 'home' or to the pool for a break, then return in the evenings to the parks.
As a Floridian though, I would wait and see before booking any reservations this Sept. who knows if we'll have a hurricane repeat season the way the weathers been all over the world.

the best time is anytime you are able to get a reservation, its tough to get them for any weekend, we like to go in September & April

We love the months of November and February. These seem to be the least crowded months, and the weather is usually great. We went for a week at spring break one year, and that was nice, too, but the parks were really crowded. When the parks are not crowded, you can do more on a day with shortened hours than you can on a day with extended hours and big crowds. That being said, I believe we have camped at Ft. Wilderness at one time or another for a part of every month, and there really is not a bad time to go.
