If you were to book a room right now for a stay that is 6 months in the future, all that you would be able to get is the rack rate. That's because there have been no discounts announced for 2007 yet.
AAA rates will be the first discount announced. Other room-only discounts may or may not become available for your dates. Those kinds of deals are based on occupancy and are offered with limited availability or not at all, depending on how busy bookings have been.
If you have your heart set on a king room at POR or POFQ, I would book it now at the rack rate and then call to have to the ressie modified to a AAA discounted room when those rates are announced, if you're a member. If a better room-only deal comes out later on, you can have the ressie modified again to bring the cost even lower.
