Hello everyone!

Ideally my fiance and I would like to get married in April of 2008. However, we are more concerned with when is the best time of year to get married in Walt Disney World. We don't want to get married during peak season. We rather get married at a slower time. Not only will it cut some costs in off season, but we feel our guests will have more of an oppotunity to enjoy themselves if it is not as busy.

Can anyone offer their advice? Please share your experience or research on this. Thanks in advance!

First, congrats and have fun planning your wedding!
I am having my Disney wedding in February.
A. It is not too busy
B. The weather, in theory, should be cooler
C. My FMIL . . . but that is a whole other story! :stir:

I have heard many times if you want a wedding outside- especially on the beach- avoid summer months! Also, beware of hurricane season- another good reason to avoid the hotter months!
I am sure whatever time of year you choose will be great. I hope you have a wonderful planning experience! :wave2:

Hey from one Tink to another,
My fiance (who just proposed to me in front of Cinderella's Castle too, during Wishes) swears that May is not busy at all...mainly because kids aren't out of school yet in most of the country.

I'm not real sure. We are going May 30-June 6 this summer...so we'll see then I guess!

Happy Planning! I made the first official phone call today...we want to do it Spring Break 2008. I say phone call it was more like listen to the guy (Mr Automated Guy)talk, and leave a message and hope they call back this month!

Anyways...just a phone call and I got all anxious/nervous!

We were married on May 2nd and it was great. The weather was in the 80's, sunny and the parks were not busy at all. We had the pools to ourselves at the Coronodo Springs Resort.

We are getting married in 13 days. THe date is Dec. 11th. It is still off-peak season and should be fairly quiet except for the locals on the weekends. THe peak holiday season doesn't begin until Dec. 22nd this year (i think...). If you go to allearsnet.com she has the off-peak dates on every resort price page. CHeck it out.

We've been down there all times of the year. December is beautiful, not too hot, not usually too cold (although in 1995 it was 35 degrees for a week). January is nice too and quiet. August is hot!!!!!! I hear October is beautiful. Whatever time you choose will be wonderful. Just try to avoid the hurricane season. Good luck and have fun planning!!!! Congratulations!!! :cheer2:

Glad to hear Dec is so nice - Dec 11th is the date we are hoping for in 2007 for our VR! Hope you have a great time, look forward to your TR.

We got married on December 16th of last year...........we were originally targeting November, but my dad underwent surgery in September, and didn't feel well enough for a November wedding.

My recommendation is for anytime between December 1st and late March.......I'm sure you'd like to plan around the holidays within that time frame. In Florida, anyone willing to schedule a wedding between April and October is going to be faced with daily afternoon thunderstorms, potential for 90+ degree weather and 99% humidity every day, and the potential for a Hurricane. Anything in this timeframe is a big no-no in my opinion.

Good luck,
JC

Thanks for all your advice guys! We are definitely trying to avoid summer months for all the reasons you listed above. I also don't really want to get married too close to any holidays thats why I was thinking early spring. Although early may isn't sounding too bad either.

Oh and hi tink!

Hi,

We have chosen April because its outside the peak season and we have heard the weather is around the 80's so not too warm and the gardens are meant to be nice this time of year for photo's at the yacht club :)

how is late september early october time?
We are looking at that time of year in 2008? I know the weather will be hot but as we are from the rainy cold uk thats fine by us but dont want the parks to be overly busy

I think it's a great time! I was married September 20 and it was very humid and hot, but the crowds were great!

Just keep in mind for October, Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party is going on at MK, and the Food and Wine Festival is going on at Epcot. Park hours are also "reduced" so that may be something to consider.

Has anyone done a January wedding?

My mother and father's first date was january 26th and we're trying to surprise them by picking that date, but is it too cold up there then? Way early but curious.

I'm with Happylalagirl. Early December is not busy, and it is decorated beautifully. You get to do all of the holiday activities, and you get huge discounts. We are getting a honeymoon suite for a week at the GF next Dec with dining for about $2,500. That's with park tickets. Good deal! :thumbsup2
Plus, the weather is nice. It's not too hot.

These will probably be the most biased replies ever :rotfl2:

Of course, I'm going to recommend when I got married! September 30, 2006 ;) The end of September is typically a very slow time in Disney. In recent years, it's been a little busier, but only because Disney has offered a package deal - FREE dining plan with your entire stay at a Disney resort. About 60% of my guests took advantage of this option and saved loads of money while eating like kings. So...

1. Disney offers deals for September (last 2 years)
2. It's still in value season
3. Crowds are smaller
4. It's still light outside into the evening (we had a 5pm wedding)
5. Weather is cooler than summer but still warm
6. A good day is a VERY good day (We had gorgeous weather)
7. Last weekend in September is typically the start of the Food & Wine Festival (we drank around the world with our guests)
8. If you come from the North, it's one last hurrah for summer before the cold sets in :)
9. A few of our guests went to Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party

We thought our wedding weekend was ideal. Sure, I was stressed for hurricanes leading up to the wedding, but that's not within my control. I just kept repeating "A good day is a VERY good day" HTH!

We all want you to get married when we got married (or will be getting married).

I recommend November. I got married November 14th. It was warm, hot enough to wear shorts everyday. We didnt encounter any crowds until our last day when we were leaving (thanksgiving people were coming in). We didnt have to wait to get on any ride, there were people there, but not many. The cast members really were able to pay attention to you and your needs. I overall recommend the beginning of November (The heat index one day was 89).

Florida can get very windy and chilly. I personally dont recommend winter months. I also dont recommend summer months, or any weeks such as NJ week, Gay Days, etc. Very crowded!!

I also recommend late September. It is still very warm, kids are back in school- and things have calmed down a lot. I have been to WDW in September and it was great (plus they are known to throw in the free dining plan in September for the past couple of years).

We went to a wedding on Nov. 5 in Disney and while the weather was phenomenal - the crowds were insane. We had to wait forever to get on rides. We went to MK one day and my friend and I were only able to get on HM (20 min wait) and the teacups. Everything else had a 30 - 45 min + wait. Not sure why :confused3

Superdiz- That was Jersey week- the week I spoke about in my thread. Probobly was the reason it was so busy.

NOT the summer! We knew this, but didn't have too much of a choice because of work schedules, and DH starting school.

We just got married, November 27, at Sea Breeze Point! It was AMAZING! It was in the low 70's with a nice breeze, perfect blue sky and white clouds. I will highly recommend late November!!! FANTASTIC! :bride:
