I want to do the Absolute Facial and Body Massage on our upcoming cruise. I know I should book it on one of our "at sea" days. (We are doing the Eastern on Aug. 24!). I am thinking of doing it on Sunday, so I can start my Cruise all relaxed. What is the best time of day to do the treatments? I want to try and do some of the "Art of" seminars, also? I looked at a Navigator sample, but would really appreciate some help from some of you Spa experts! We have late seating for dinner.
Thanks a BUNCH!

:) :) :) :) :)

The adult programming series talks usually took place in the morning, so if you want to schedule around that plan for an early afternoon spa treatment.

I personally like to do the Elemis earlier in the day, though, just hop out of bed, eat a light breakfast and prepare to be pampered. :D

Would the Elemis be better than the Absolute???? They are pretty expensive so I want to do the one that is the best!

By Elemis, do you mean the seaweed wrap?
I love both that one and the Absolute Face & Body. The AF&B is more pampering, and the seaweed wrap is more detoxifying...both involve massage and are very relaxing.
We typically try to do our spa treatments in the afternoon or early everning to avoid conflicting with all the other fun stuff to do. If you go to the Disney Dreams matinee, you could do a treatment on that day at your regular showtime...we do that a lot on the three-day.

Sorry for the confusion, I DO mean the Elemis Absolute Face & Body Treatment. Have they dropped the Elemis from the name? Last time I did it they still called it that because they featured Elemis products. :D

I also LOVE this treatment and is well worth-it...like Barb, I prefer it to the seaweed wrap, although that is nice too. The problem with that treatment is you keep having to get up and shower off everything before they do the next treatment. The AF&B is VERY relaxing. :D

I have question for all you spa goers. Do you have to lie there in the buff? I am not a prude, but prefer not to disrobe in front of strangers or anything like that. I did the Surial last year with hubby (with whom I have no problems disrobing in front of LOL). And I also did the capsule/jacuzzi tub thing, but I was alone during both.

Can anyone enlighten me? Also, aren't the facials very nice, but don't they make your face really red/pink and possibly break out?

Thanks for any help.

I am a spa addict, anyone who knows me well does not think hard about gifts for me, they just run over to our local day spa and get me a gift certificate. DH is worried he will never see me on the cruise bc I will be in the spa. Too bad they don't have some kind of "unlimited" use package!! :D

Anyway, my dearest friend is as modest as can be. She did not think she could even bare her toes for a pedi, but to appease me, she went for a massage awhile back, and she was hooked. When done properly, all your private areas are totally covered. When you have to roll over, the therapist will either turn away or even the room if you wish. And while it is not ideal, if you are really modest, leave your undies on and even a bra. A good therapist will work around it; just tell her/him ahead of time.

For a facial or one of those treatments, you are usually in a robe so your clothes don't get messy. But you will not disrobe in front of the person doing the treatment.

Having said all this, if you are going to be uncomfortable & stressed about disrobing, then a pedi would be great for you! You'll usually get a great foot massage and cutie-patootie toes as well!

You are TOTALLY covered, and you get a much better massage if you are unclothed underneath the towels. The massage therapists go out of their way to ensure your modesty. :D

You would want to avoid the seaweed wrap if you're modest, though, it's next to impossible to NOT be pretty much naked in front of the therapist with this one, you get wrapped and re-wrapped in all sorts of stuff and you have to shower it off in between.

As for the facial, tell the therapist if you have sensitive skin. I don't break out at all but I do have sensitive skin, and after a facial my skin positively glows. :D

I just had the AFB in June and have really sensitive rash prone skin. This was the first facial I had ever had so I have nothing to compare it to but I found it very relaxing. This facial was only applying the various cleansers, masks and moisturizers, plus a wonderful facial massage. No squeezing blackheads or anything that could leave your face red. The facial left my skin soft but not greasy. I did buy one of the products they used but waited a couple days to make sure I wasn't sensitive to it.

Thanks everyone for your answers! I think I may try out a massage, but not the wrap. I do have very sensitive skin. Gosh, if I get my eyebrows waxed, I look like I am wearing pink eyeshadow for days! LOL

Hubby won't/can't get the massage, as he has scoliosis (sp?) and has had problems with massages in the past. Wouldn't want to mess him up on vacation.

We will probable do the Surial again, as we really liked that, and will schedule it for a day at sea so we don't have to rush around.

Can't wait, in 2 weeks, I will be sitting on the floor in the cruise terminal waiting to board!

Hey, Michelle, you forgot the infamous paper panties!!!
Since the seaweed wrap is so messy, you are given paper undies to wear. You can cover your chest area with the towel and they will not put the seaweed mix on that area unless you are comfortable with it (since I am a spa veteran and lost my modesty long ago, I have them slather it just about everywhere). Just let them know upfront if you are a newbie and they will go out of their way to make your comfortable. As they put it, "Undress down to your comfirt level." You can even wear a swimsuit and just roll down the top as needed if it is your first time and you are unsure.

LOL, Barb, oh yes those paper panties were lovely! ;)

I'm with you, I pretty much lost all modesty long ago with the spa treatments! :)
