Best time for Hilton Head?

My husband and I would really like to give Hilton Head a try. What is the best time to go in your opinion?

If you ask anyone in our family, they will tell you ANY time is a great time to go to Hilton Head!

Actually, it depends on what you want to do. If it's the beach, obviously, the summer months are the best, but they're also the most crowded and hottest. If you want the beach without the crowds and don't have school schedules to worry about, early September would probably work best for you.

If you want to golf, spring and fall are probably the best, since the weather in the summer can make it very uncomfortable.

The resort is beautiful at any time of the year -- even during the winter months. It's just that then it's TOO quiet for some people.

We'd say the same thing, but it's not based on experiencing alot of different times. We always go in early spring (mid to late March) and think that's a perfect time. Now this year we're trying out Thanksgiving-maybe that will become our new favorite!

Right about NOW is the best time for HH...or in the early fall (assuming no hurricanes). AVOID SUMMER!!!!

From what I hear you need to book HH early for the summer time. There have been posts saying that HH is already booked up through August. If you want to go soon you should definitly call and be put on the waitlist.

I love HHI in September. It's warm, waters' warm and the crowds are LOW!

We've been in early October and have had nice weather most trips. I would think Sept. would be even better as far as warm temps., yet less crowded. I'm going in four more days - so I'll get to see what it's like in mid-March. I know it won't be as warm, but I don't plan on swimming this trip anyway! I'm going with "the girls" - no kids - no husbands - just the girls! WOO HOO!

ccw - why avoid summer? It is, after all, a BEACH resort. Is it because of the heat and humidity or the crowds???? We've been in July before and had a fantastic time. Yes, it's hot, but that's why we go to the beach!!!!
