Trying to get my stuff ready with 180 days fast approaching. Going first week in November and I'm trying to decide which time would be better for Coral Reef. DD (5) loves aquariums, so I know she'll be fascinated. Just not sure if we should do lunch or dinner...which would we have better luck getting a seat next to the aquarium??

Have done both lunch and dinner at the Coral Reef several times (one of our past faves) and never sat right next to the windows of the tank. I would guess that you should ask for a seat by a window when you check in and as with other places with special seats (like Ohana by the windows for the MK fireworks) you may have to wait a bit longer but I am sure they would accommodate you if possible. We never asked for any particular seat and never happened to get a seat by the window ... oh well ... it was still a cool place to eat.

You might try a late lunch or an early dinner ... the off times may be less crowded and they may be able to seat you where you wish more quickly during those times.

you will enjoy your meal either way. It is kind of the luck of the draw if your right at the tank. i will say from personal experience a table a little further back is much better. Right up at the tank you can only really see what is in front of you plus you have a much better chance of 'visitors' joining you at your table. We had several kids nearly in our lap or trying to scoot to the other side of our table to be right at the tank, not pleasant.
Our other experience was a row back away from the tank tables. We had a much better view and no visitors- :thumbsup2
Our meal and service was very good both at dinner and at lunch. Enjoy!

Excellent advice above. Also, if I remember correctly, the tables right next to the tank are all tables for two, with the larger tables further back. You didn't mention the size of your party, but not to worry because the view is great from any table in the place.

Enjoy.

There are also some tables for four right next to the tank. :thumbsup2

As for the OP's question, I agree with the poster who said going on off-times. You might have a better chance that way.

I have been to the Coral Reef for lunch 4 times and dinner once. Oddly enough, I have sat at a tank seat every time. I schedule my lunches at the first available (11:30 am) and check in at 11, though they don't seat you until 11:30. I also request the seat at check in. For dinner, we scheduled our dinner for 8:45 pm and just requested the tank seats, and poof- 5 minutes later- a la Tank Seat!

;)

I agree with the above poster. We have eaten at Coral Reef lots of times over the years and gotten an aquarium table for 4 every time except twice. We make our ressies for 11:30 a.m. which is the first available lunch ressie and show up early. We have never had a problem with people encroaching on our space but I can see where this might happen.

Have fun!

How is the food? I'm sure there are options for people (kids) who are not seafood lovers??

There are non-seafood options, however they are slightly limited. There is a steak and chicken option but that is about it at each meal. Overall the food is quite good, although the portions are small (for Disney anyway, maybe avg. for the rest of the world). Listed melow is the link to the menu so you can check it out for yourself.
