Best Ticket Option???

I know someone on this board has looked at all the ticket options and can help me decide what to buy for Jan. Here are my issues...

Our last few trips we have bought the park hopper plus and not used any tickets the arrival & departure days. During our Thanksgiving trip we also stayed out of the parks on Thanksgiving so the length of stay (or whatever it is now called) didn't make sense. I thought I read somewhere that you can get tickets that you can take the arrival & departure days off your "length of stay ticket". Is this true? That would work the best because if the weather is pool we will go to the parks every day and not have any "pool only" days. There are so many choices - buy tickets ahead, wait and use DVC, get AAA, etc ...

What do you guys usually buy?

We usually buy annual passes and try to fit at least two (sometimes three) trips into their use period. We get our monies worth out of them and don't feel we need to go to a park every day. I only wish there was a DVC discount on them. Maybe with the end of the Disney Club discount, they will consider it.

If you go at least eight days within 365 cycle it is cheaper to buy APs. If you use the AP discounts and perks you get an even better deal.

We have used the miniature golf, dining, shopping and parking perks. We have also used the resort discounts for an extra (non-DVC) trip to WDW.

This year's passes end with our upcoming trip and our park admission will average $9.88 per day cost for the year.

I have to take issue with the old -if you go 8 days rule...it all depends on how many days you will be able to use your pass and whether you plan to do water parks or Pleasure Island and DisneyQuest...if this is the only trip this year and you plan to be in the parks for 7 to 10 days there is the 10 day world hopper pass that can only be bought in advance...it gives you 10 days the same as a UPH (DisneyQuest, Water Parks, Pleasure Island, WWS) to be used in a 20 day period and it costs about $90 per adult less than an annual pass...and you get one free BREAKFAST regular or character as you choose that is worth about $20---$336 per adult & $276 per child ($15 shipping fee per order)
I think it is roughly the same price as a 7 day UPH... a link to a site that sells these:

You can get a length of stay pass and take off days. If you are going to be there for say... 7 days but you feel that you will only need a ticket to go for 5 days, that can be done. When you check in or make you reservations just let them know that you would like to have a lenght of stay pass that starts on so-and-so-date and end on so-and-so-date.

I have done this myself. And I got the day that we checked in and the day that we checked out taken off. Saved me a little bit of money.

As a DVC member, the AP works great if you plan your trips just under 365 days apart. We usually buy one voucher to activate say the 3rd week of Jan. Then we plan the next trip for the first or second week of Jan, and get two trips on that one AP. Because we usually go in Jan., we don't usually do water parks, and if we want to do DisneyQuest, we just go and pay for that. We often get our AP usage to 20-30 days per pass. That gets the per/day/park cost down to around $10-12 a day.

It would help to know how many days you will be at WDW, and how extensively you typically use the "plus" parks. The UPH is great for convenience sake, but can often end up costing you more if you don't make liberal use of the water parks, PI and/or DQ.

Annual passes are great--particularly if you can make use of any of the other associated discount programs (parking, dining, shopping, recreation, etc.) But if your trip is only 4 days, and you won't be back in the next 365 days, it's probably not a viable option.

I thought the world pass was only for those from the U.K. Have to check that out.

i thought the exact same thing until someone on these boards posted the link that I posted a few weeks ago...apparently there are a lot of nonpublicized ways of buying admissions if you know whom to ask.

You might also check out the budget board- there have been many discussions about passes and uph there lately- probably if you do a search you can get some additional info about the 10 day ones.

I fixed the link to Paramount to buy the 10 day world pass in the US...not sure after reading the mousesavers info what to think...as I said I always thought this was for UK only....but based on what mousesavers says US folks have had no problems and you would think if Disney wanted to stop Paramount or anyone else for selling these they could do so pretty easily....they sell other passes on that website including th 4 day Ph + passes which are not available from Disney ..as mousesavers says this seems to be a grey area....weird...
