Best Thing To Happen to you on a Disney Cruise

On our last cruise (April 2015) we were seated with a great couple each night at diner. They were so much like us, we just bonded and we just returned from WDW with them. We're already planning for our next trip for 2016 together! Thank you Disney for arranging them at our table!

I've got three:

1 - Falling in love with cruising while on our 2nd cruise (EC on Fantasy)

2 - Winning $417 playing Bingo on the Wonder 3 weeks ago

3 - Spending a total of 21 nights over 4 cruises with our 2 teenagers and having an incredible time with them without our iPhones, they never go to the clubs so we hang out the entire time.

Is Bingo very expensive? it sounds like a lot of fun.... is it better to have the special machine that keeps track or just do it the old fashioned way? i'm worried with my eyesight i'll miss something, LOL and I'm not the fastest at finding things either

I think it was $50 for the electronic unit that had 48 cards and 3 paper cards. The electronic is great because you really don't have to do anything, it's one of our favorite things to do on the ship, be entertainment CM's do a great job of making it a ton of fun, you don't have to play if you want to check it out, just go into the room and watch. Be sure to be a part of the B11 dance.

I think the best thing that's happened to me on a Disney cruise was on Serenity Bay (aka my favorite beach ever). My mom and I were sitting and chatting when Captain Jack stumbles up to us, asks us where the rum is and then tries to steal my camera when I asked for a photo. We have some great (albeit crooked) pictures of us and Cap'n Jack. Also, I have literally no idea where he came from. It was such fun Disney magic even for us adults

On our last cruise we got engaged. After that we got so much free champagne we could have drank for free the rest of the trip. It was on night 2 (if I remember correctly may have been 3) and every night after that there was a special gift for us. Usually a bottle of champagne and nice chocolates. It seemed each section of the crew wanted to pixie dust us haha. We got stuff from Guest Services, the bar management team, our room steward, and the dinning room team. Also our friends were chosen as one of the "families of the week" by a Guest Services cast member. Since we were linked they gave us the same goodies. We got popcorn one night, mickey rice krispys another night, and just random stuff through out the whole week. It was magical and more than we could have ever asked for in celebration of our engagement.

Also the Sommelier gave us a free wine "upgrade" at Remy. My fiance was talking to him while we were waiting for the first course and had a lovely conversation all about wines and the previous places the Sommelier had worked. When he went to get the wine we had ordered they were out of the vintage we originally picked. He gave us one that was a few years older and my fiance actually really knew the wine and said oh thank you but I really can't accept that but the Sommelier insisted. He told me later that the vintage he gave us was actually a much better year for wine and was about 100 more for the bottle. I was shocked the Sommelier had that kind of pixie dust power.

I've cruised twice the first time was a Panama Canal cruise. We developed a great relationship with Christine in the Wonder gift shop. We would interact with her each time we went in and I went in daily. We saw her at shops/restaurants when in port and she always remembered us. We received a Magical Moments certificate from her. Jennifer in Guest Svcs on the same cruise was wonderful as well. We also interacted with her on many occasions. We received a large Snow With lithograph from her. On my second cruise we sailed concierge. We received a beautiful cake with Chip n Dale (my favorite characters) on it. I truly believe it pays to be nice to the service staff. They appreciate the appreciation you show them. Both of my cruises have been magical. My next cruise is in two weeks for my 25th anniversary and we will be sailing in the Roy Suite. If we are pixie dusted that will be great, if not, it's a Disney cruise with my loved one and will be magical in itself.

#1 would probably when my 9month old son whooped *** in all of his heats and the championship of the diaper dash with everyone overlooking on the atrium balconies cheering him on, lol, it wasn't $3500, but the little Mickey ear trophy still sits on his dresser

I have only been on one Disney cruise, but the most memorable moment from that cruise was when we first got on the ship. We had went to Deck 5 so I could get in line for Elsa and Princess gathering tickets and DH could get DD's kids club wristband. We had just met back up and were going to eat and we ran into Cinderella, all by herself. We asked if we could get a quick picture and she graciously accepted. She bent down to my 4 year old DD and told her "they told me you were coming and to look out for you." My DD is not as into Cinderella as the other princesses, but she is a princess fan (who isn't ). It was just a simple but very special moment. The rest of the cruise we never saw a character on her own, they always had a handler, photographer and a line. So it was special for me and made the cruise for me.

My kids love to collect the Disney Cruise Mystery Pins. On our last cruise, they were obsessed with going to the shops every chance they got to see if there were any available for trading. My oldest had 5 of the 6 pins and we were talking to one of the CM's about it. He told us if he keep an eye out for that particular pin and set it aside for us. That night when we returned to our cabin, there was a "Magical Moments Certificate" on the door from the CM along with the missing pin. It really was a "Magical Moment". Those things just don't happen on other cruise lines.

The best thing on a Disney cruise for me is the care taken be the staff to make your cruise as good as it can be. On our 2nd Disney Cruise the first for my granddaughters Bethanie 13, Caitlin 9. We had late seating and on 2nd Animators Palette, and my daughter and I had reservations for Polo so I told our servers that the girls would eat at the buffet or or in the clubs on that night. Our head server told us that the girls should come to dinner and they would take care of them. The girls thought it was a great idea, they would be treated like adults. After we finished dinner we went to find them still at dinner and really enjoying themselvs. They had been allowed to order anything they wanted, (even off the menue), in fact they had been served Ceaser salad and cream boulea without asking. Having the same servers every night (different restaurants), is one of the best things Disney does. On other ships even though you have the same servers (same restaurant) they do not make any effort to interact with the guests no a personal level. this alone sets Disney far and away above other cruise lines.

Stories like this are why we are trying to get our family vacation to be a Disney Cruise next year. There are 15 of us (maybe 16 now with the baby) and we usually go to a beach. They are so worried to cruise like the family use to because there are 5 under 5 right now. Our family usually does the luxury liners like Seaborn that are not anti-kid per se but aren't really "kid friendly". We keep telling the sisters that they would enjoy the night life of the Disney cruises, the wonderful dinners, and the fact the older kids can have a little freedom and the little ones will have a fun time in nursery or club and no one at dinner is going to give us nasty looks if any of the under 5s need to be taken out for a second. Our 2 year old niece loves to sing and is still learning when it is okay and when it is not and it is so hard to go to dinner with her when people scoff and give side eye because she is singing at the table or perhaps talking a little loud (not screaming).

We got to the theatre early to make sure to get seats but I wondered what we were going to do to keep my DDs from going stir crazy while waiting. All of a sudden it started "snowing" inside. We live in the south, so my kids don't see snow very often. The look on their faces was priceless.

Nothing so grand, but our first cruise with DS when he was 5, he was afraid of the characters and the only picture we had of him and any of them was in Epcot before the cruise while in a stroller in the pouring rain with Goofy - it was the closest he would get. Walking around, we ran into Mickey on his way to a meet and greet. He spent a few minutes calming down DS and we got an adorable photo.

And back in 2000, my 6 year old niece was devastated as she missed the Cinderella meet and greet, all decked out in her costume. Walking back to her room in tears, we see Cinderella again was walking down the hall and she asked why my niece was crying. My niece is now 16 and found the picture recently and had it blown up and gave it to my mom - who tells the story any time anyone asks her about DCL.

Yep, it was out of Galveston. Going again in December and will see Force Awakens on board. Wonder if anything they have anything up their sleeve then.

Awesome. We are on the January Galveston to San Juan repositioning cruise.
