Best Thing To Happen to you on a Disney Cruise

got over my apprehension about cruising.never been on one and wife wanted one for our 25th annv and thats all it took.it was a very windy, rainy and rocky 3 day (a little green) but it was great.did another 3 day for 26th and have a 3 day scheduled before we play tour guide for extended family trip to wdw.dw is a teacher and we have a lot of scheduling problems so right now 3 days is all we can squeeze in.SO that is the best thing ( so far ) that has happened to me on a cruise.

Awww!! my daughter is OBSESSED with mermaids. A friend of mine has a 70# mermaid tail that she can swim in (very well i might add) and her grandmother used to be a mermaid at the weekiwachi show in florida (i don't know how you spell weekiwachi and I'm too lazy to look it up. lol) Anyway, she brought the tail to my daughters 6th bday last year and was in character the WHOLE time with ALL of the little girls there. She never let them see her with "legs." At the end of the day, I had a bag of marbles i had not used for decoration and my daughter was playing with them, my friend told her that if she wished upon the marbles, that one day she might have legs and they can meet again but that for now she had to go back to the ocean where there was salt water. She also said my daughter could always look out at the ocean and talk to her, which my daughter misunderstood and told me that "Lauralaine told me that i could go to the beach and call for her" *sigh* i might have a little mermaid caller on the boat LOL.

I hope we see ariel a lot. my dd will love it.

We were walking to our room to put away our carry-ons and turned the corner and almost smacked right into Ariel ( who DS adores---his "favorite" princess lol). There wasn't anyone else around and she talked to him for several minutes.....made the first moments of his 1st cruise that much more magical!

my daughter's favorite too. I can't wait!

Best thing---well, probably a few.....held out kind of last minute to book (36 days out) and ended up being able to book VGT for a few hundred dollars less than we would have paid for an inside room at regular rate! This leads to 2nd best thing.....ended up with a 4e, so the first night on the ship I woke up around 4:30 am and couldn't get back to sleep. After about 30 mins I grabbed my kindle and snuck out onto our extended balcony and read/enjoyed the sunrise alone. So peaceful.

Not having to deal with answering phone calls, texts, etc....total disconnect = amazing relaxation!

Cruised mid-December for DS's bday (December 10th)/Christmas present........both DH and DS are huge Christmas nuts so the decorations/extras just made the whole trip more magical.

Got paired with an AMAZING family for tablemates in MDR. We missed them already after being off the ship only a few hours.

On my last cruse it would have to be watching Ariel play with my 3 year old son. She was in Shutters just hanging out and he went up to her with his blanket. He showed it to her and she ooooh'd and ahhhhh'd over it. Then he threw it at her and she proceeded to play catch with him with his blanket. They threw it back and forth at each other. She played and talked with him for 5 minutes or more and it was so cute.

Also on the last cruise we ended up adding my step mom to the room the day before we flew to Seattle (Alaska cruise). She loves Disney like I do and since my mom doesn't like cruising but wanted her to experience a Disney cruise she sent her with my son and I last minute. The look on her face when we walked onto the ship and she saw it for the first time along with her hearing them announce us was so much fun. Also it was so nice for her and my son and I to bond and have some time to hang out and get to know each other better.

Really too many to post , but two stick out, ones for us and the second we witnessed. Both were on the inaguaral Hawaii cruise which was the best in its own right.

We almost never win at raffles, but we won a Ducky William's sketch and it happened to be our DDs favorite character Eeyore:).

The second was there was a guy that made a Lego wonder on the cruise. When it was done it was displayed outside the Walt Disney theatre. There was a blind person on the cruise and the guy took a ton of time with him guiding his hand around the Lego ship, that was super detailed, explaining what the ship looked like allowing the person to form a better picture of the ship in their mind. That act of kindness will always stick with me, love to see people do things like that:)

Our first cruise in 2010 was my oldest daughters Make-a-Wish. Everything about it was amazing! That sailing there was 3 Disney Channel stars on board. Roshon Fegan (shake it up), Tiffany Thornton (so random) and Jason Earles (hannah montana).
My Dh and DD were walking thru a hallway when the Pirate Party started. A CM took them to the gazebo and we got to hang out with 2 of the stars in there. It
was lots of fun.
During that party my Dd asked Tiffany to eat dinner with us the next night. She actually did join us for dessert. Awesome memories!

OMG!! I LOVE Tiffany Thornton!!! I met her in 2011 at the d23 expo. She was one of the ppl on the floats on the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. Don't ask how, but she remembered me!!

My cruise moments:

1- the D-Sea-U show that they used to have before it became the Friendship Rocks. I loved it!!! I was on the New Years Eve '06 Wonder so we were the first D-Sea-U Class of 2007!!!

2-

3- Went to Alaska

4- Met Captain Jack Sparrow twice.

5- Celebrated my HS graduation. Got picked to keep track of one of the games that we were playing with the Magician. I met him later that night and said it was so sweet of me to volunteer. Went to Palo brunch for the first time.

On our first cruise I did not know how things worked onboard and on the last night I stopped someone ( nicely) why the deck 11 food places had closed early. They explained and we said " ok then , thanks" . We walked back to our room and the cruise director was standing there and told us to go to cabanas in a hour. We went up ( 12 of us) and it was closed that last night but they had opened the whole restaurant and set up a long table with nice fancy dishes and 4 people in dress white:) they told us to order ANYTHING Off any menu from the 3 MDR and then brought out the soufflé from Palo as an extra dessert!
It was AMAZING ! We were so greatful we left the 4 servers large tips. I have no clue why they did that but I don't think we can beat that ever again.

:) I have to admit I got teary reading all these magical moments. I'll be honest my girls love Disney but we had never really done anything Disney until our first cruise this past Feb. We cannot wait to go back! We have avoided the parks due to my middle daughter's special needs but finally she has been stable enough we were able to do a trip. We did a 4 day on the Dream and every moment was amazing. Our first night at dinner my daughter was exhausted and really didn't want to test her sugar she was crying and upset. A CM came over with a little stuffed friend for both my girls :) On the night of the fireworks my daughter was totally overwhelmed and feeling crowded, we were just about to leave and take her back to our room when a CM showed up and escorted us up to the adults only deck and arranged for us to have a private viewing area right above where the fireworks were being set off. The smile on my daughter's face was perfect.
On our last night my youngest daughter was feeling sad we had to leave the next morning. Our server decided to cheer her up and let her join the other servers to sing "happy birthday" to those celebrating that night. She even got a special pin for all her hard work.

In 2004 my Godparents renewed their Wedding vows on the Magic. 19 of us were on board. Captain Tom (now Commodore Tom) perfomed the ceremony even though he was very busy since Hurricane Frances was on its way. We had to go farther out to sea to avoid the hurricane and stayed on board an extra 3 nights. We had a great family time!

We are fresh off the Fantasy a few weeks ago and we had many special moments and one very magical one! I don't want to give too many details bc I don't want to ruin the magic, but my 3 year old became quite chummy with all if the princesses - especially Tiana. We were given a special invitation which just stated a time and place. Not knowing what to expect, we arrived at the location and found 2 other families there. All of a sudden, music starts playing and in walk Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy, Goofy, Pluto, and Chip & Dale! We got to dance with them, hang out, and do photos with just my daughter and the full cast, and then also our family with all of the characters. It was amazing :)
We were invited to that on one of our cruises, it was great

I let the stateroom hostess know we just celebrated our 35th and when we came back into the room that evening she had this waiting on us. Very special memory.

My absolute best memory would have to be when my entire family went. I grew up in a single parent home with my mom and three sisters. We never got to go on vacation...EVER! We were seriously poor. As adults, we all decided to book a Disney cruise and go together with our families. It was so much fun! I just loved watching my mom. She worked hard her whole life to give us better than what she had. I could tell she was just so proud and happy to be on the cruise with us four girls and our families. Truly magical memories.

My second was when my kids were littler. They're almost 20 and 17 now, but we did the DCL Alaska cruise when it was first offered. It was pretty cold outside, so any of the outdoor stuff my son normally does just wasn't appealing due to the weather. We caved and decided we would go ahead and play bingo for something to do. We had never played prior to that time because we didn't want to "waste" our money. Anyhow, my son begged for the machine instead of the regular bingo cards. It, of course, costs more, so my husband and I said no. He kept begging and driving us insane. We finally caved but told him how ridiculous it was and that it wasn't even considered playing bingo, etc. He didn't really care. He was young and all he knew was that he wanted that machine and it was vacation..if he begged long enough, either mom or dad might give in (bad, I know!). Anyhow, that little you know what won! Not only once, but TWICE! I think we ended up with a little more than $500. Since then, we love playing bingo, and we love spending extra on that stupid machine that isn't even considered playing bingo. Hahahaha! Our son reminds us every cruise how his begging turned into something wonderful. :)

Returning on board and having many CMs recognize you and seem genuinely happy to see you again. What a feeling, it truly is like going home again. They make us feel so welcome.

On our first cruise, my four year old twins were quite enamoured with Ariel. She was very beautiful - I can't blame them. Anyhow, we coincidentally kept running into her all over the ship - it seriously must have looked like we were stalking her, but it was total fluke. My girls would always talk to her like she knew them and of course she went along with it and was so kind and gentle and sweet with them. On our last morning, we had an envelope clipped to our fish outside the room. My husband and I thought it was our bill (that was our first cruise, we didn't know). Anyhow, it was one of the pictures from Shutters of my girls with Ariel and it was signed saying, "I loved meeting new friends. Hugs and fishes, Ariel". They were so excited to think that 'Ariel' had come to our room to bring them this picture. It was seriously magical - even for me who had never even been to WDW! I'm telling you, it got us hooked ;)

That is so sweet!

I have had so many wonderful experiences on all my cruises but I would have to say the best was a tour of the bridge on my first Disney Cruise in 2010. I didn't know at the time that it was a big deal. I am so thankful for my friends that set this up for me.

I came back with a special souvenir my now 2 and a half year old! I also won 30 dollars at bingo and a pirate mickey at Pirate Bingo (I love doing all the dancing during bingo! B 11 b 11!)

I've got three:

1 - Falling in love with cruising while on our 2nd cruise (EC on Fantasy)

2 - Winning $417 playing Bingo on the Wonder 3 weeks ago

3 - Spending a total of 21 nights over 4 cruises with our 2 teenagers and having an incredible time with them without our iPhones, they never go to the clubs so we hang out the entire time.
