I was flipping through the channels the other night and happened to come upon "ET." I hadn't seen the movie in years and realized just how amazing the attraction was at USO. I started thinking about the great theming, and how well they captured the feel of the movie. Not only did they do an A+ job on ET, but Jaws and MIB are also great examples of how an attraction can transport you into a movie. The only WDW attraction I can think of that is on the same level would be TOT. What do you guys think? They just seem immerse you in their own world. It's no wonder ET and Jaws are some of my fave attractions.

I agree! :)

The ride themeing is amazing. On ROTM, it feels like you're really in The Mummy, or in Egypt. Twister feels like Oklahoma. It puts you IN the movie. Also, at IoA, Spiderman is VERY excellently themed, as well as the Lost Continent area. In Suess Landing, I felt as if I was IN the Cat in the Hat, and all the rest.

:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 for Universal!

Yep that's why I'm a bigger fan of U than WDW. Also love the whole Jurassic Park area and ride, greatly themed there, makes you really feel like you are on the island in the movie (at IOA). But yeah ET is great, love the forest que line. I've always said if I get super rich, I want to put in a huge room with a fake forest, not sure why I like that so much, it is just so cool to me.

For me, the theming in the Lost Continent area is second to none. I just love that place. Also, Seuss Island is very well done, my daughter is always finding new details like the Lorax, Horton, the Voom! etc. All of IOA is themed beautifully and nothing for me at WDW can really match it.

I agree, I think the theming at IOA is much better than WDW. The Lost Continent is probably my favourite but I just love the 'feel' of IOA, and love the music round by the Hulk. We usually grab a drink and a bench and just listen for 10 minutes!

One of my favourties at US is the ET ride. I love the smell in the forest.

US took on a whole new view for us during the HHN - we'll never look at Jaws the same again!

Jurassic Park I think is the best for me, but Lost Continent is also pretty nice!

On Universal I think that ET, Jaws and Earthquake are the best themed, but others like T2 and Twister are close (I never rode ROTM so can't comment that one).

On WDW I think that ToT, Splash, Haunted Mansion and It's Tough to be a Bug! (a theater with bugs inside a tree is already pretty themed for me!) are probably the best themed ones.

I wish I felt the same way about IOA, but I don't anymore. USO is definitely my fave park of the two. I've had an annual pass to both for the past 3 years, and while I enjoy some of the attractions at IOA, I feel the park has gone downhill since it's inception. I really like Jurassic Park, but the last 4 times we've ridden it, it has broken down. We waited 30+ min on the ride with not even an apology from a CM. They seem to tolerate line cutting and don't enforce their rules of conduct for the park. I know a lot of that has to do with the demographic, but I don't really seem to have any of those problems as USO. Don't get me wrong, there are some great attractions (ie spiderman), and nicely themed lands, but it's no longer my cup of tea. I would rather be transported to Ammityville via jaws, or ET's home planet.

I think the Mummy, ET and Poseidons Fury have the best theming. I'm always blown away by the theming of ET; it actually feels like you are walking through the woods. Some ride queues are so boring it makes the wait seem even longer.

This past April we went to UO for the first time, and I must admit, I was rather impressed with the rides- everything from Twister to Jurassic Park to Jaws to Terminator. I had a genuinely good time (despite getting some personal bad news at the beginning of our first day). I would love to go back to UO, but I wouldn't do it in a one week trip to WDW. It's just too hard to hard for me to get my fix of WDW AND fit in two days of UO and SW.

Too bad for me that my company only allows one week off max. :sad2:

Ditto that, LC is also my favorite section I'm going to be really bleeped off if they destroy it for the Harry Potter section.

I also am a BIG fan of the Lost Continent and especially Dueling Dragons. It's queue is THE most elaborate I've seen anywhere. :thumbsup2
