We have three campsites reserved for our coming visit in April, but for the first time......we will NOT have a vehicle with us. Some of our family is flying down from Michigan, and we've opted to pull down our son-in-law's golf cart instead of our Jeep. Therefore, we're wondering what the best TAXI option is to take two or three of us to the closest grocery store for a few supplies and beer. Any suggestions?? :confused3

1) MEARS has the taxi concession at WDW.
2) They are the only ones allowed to solicit rides.
3) However, you are free to call any of the others, or have the Concierge call.
4) I would recommend just staying with MEARS metered cabs/vans.
5) Too many Gypsy Cabs around Orlando.

I know Mears Taxi service is all over the place at Disney, used them a few times and they pick up from Outpost and will only drop you off there also. Can not remember how much they charge, but are in line with other companies in the area. Have you thought of the Garden Grocer food delivery? I've read a lot of positive reviews on them. You order online (in advance of arrival) and they do the shopping for you - same brands of foods sold in chain markets like Publics. They give you a delivery time, and deliver to Fort right to your campsite or cabin and help unpack. This may appeal to you instead of the taxi trip. You could search in this forum or the website for more info. Weather in April is very comfortable. Have a great visit!

Ask around, you probably will find a neighbor with a truck or toad who is "going down to Wally World".

CampFanatic/Fix,

Using the Mears taxi fare estimator:

http://www.mearstransportation.com/taxi-services/taxi-fare-estimator/

and using the address for the Winn Dixie on South Apopka-Vineland Road (closest reasonably priced grocery) the distance is 5.1 miles and fare estimates at $15.12. That's one-way with no tip.

I would second Nan's suggestion of Garden Grocer https://www.gardengrocer.com/ or another service such as WeGoShop http://www.wegoshop.com/ to consider along with a taxi option.

Just more options to consider (definitely buy your beer off-property). Tiggerdad showed a pix from the Fort Trading Post where a 6-pack domestic was $15.

Thank you!!! We will definitely check into the grocery delivery, as we HATE having to leave the wonderful campground!!! I think we'll load beer for the three families onto our trailer with the golf cart and bring it down with us. LOL! Again, thanks!!! :cool1:
