We're going to be at Universal near the end of December and I'm looking for recommendations on some of the better restaurants. We do have children, but none will be under 5 when we travel.

Also, when can you make reservations for these restaurants...I know it's a busy time of year. I've got myself refreshed on Disney rules, and now I have to learn Universal's.

Thanks so much!

You can check allears dot net for all the menus. I know there are lots on this board who rave about mythos which is in IOA. I have not eatten there and I am a picky eatter so probably wouldnt like it. I personally like Margaritaville at City Walk. I havent noticed a great place rly to eat inside of Universal but there might be some. My advice would be to check out the menus and see which would best suit your family.

As for reservations I am not positive the earliest you can make one. I know its not 180 like Disney does but I think I remember hearing 7 days? Since you are going during a busy time I think you should check with Universal to be sure the earliest you can make it.

We had a great meal at Finnegan's in USF. I like the food there myself!

Be sure and enjoy Citywalk for lunch if you'd like a break from the crowds. It tends to be quiet and it's refreshing to head over there for a while.

I also like Margaritaville best and we've had good stuff at the Nascar Cafe.

I totally agree. Last year was our first time eating there and we enjoyed it alot. So this past May, we ate there again and were still happy with it.

The only meal I enjoyed in the parks was at Mythos Restaurant. Lombard's Seafood Grille and Confisco Grille weren't very good. Haven't been to Finnegan's. I also enjoyed both Emeril's, Tchoup Chop, and Margaritaville, though you may not want to do those first two with kids.

i have tried them all and like each one for different reasons.

check the menus first to see what is offered at the table service restaurants in the parks.

lombards is good for the fish and the view

finnegans has a varied selection and a musician on certain time periods.

mythos great service, ambiance and food. they close at 3 which is the bummer for me. you can get a ressie the morning you are in the park or up to a week in advance. during busy times, you can make the ressie 2 weeks in advance, especially when they add on to their hours and stay open until 7 in the evening.

one over looked place is the enchanted oak grove.
it is counter service but has a decent choice of foods and sides.

you can sit in the back at the patio and be away from the crowd and park noise or sit inside.

my usual sit down place is finnegans as i like many of the choices on their menu. i do finnegans a couple of times each visit.

I agree with the Enchanted Oak. Went here for the first time last week and have decided it is my favorite at the parks. Not sure if it is the food or the peace and quiet.....and air conditioning.

I had the best Fish and Chips I've ever had at Finnegan's last week. It was $12.99 and well worth every penny.

Hi Macraven! No I haven't, but now I know what I'll have to order on our next trip! Does the fruit cup / salad go good with this?
