Best sunbathing spots at Typhoon Lagoon

for our friends meeting us at WDW this year their big priority when spending the day at TL is getting the sun!

Anyone got any ideas on a really good sun spot that gets the sun all day? Last year we went to the area by the wave pool and it also had a little slide right by us too. It seemed like a good spot but we got there late so I dont know what the rest of the day was like if it got sun or not.

Also want to be somewhere where they can see the kids play.

so anyone got any sunbathing tips?

ps - what time do the parks open? Do WDW residents get early opening times than those staying offsite?

I find a lot of TL gets sun, but the beach is probably your best bet. I personally prefer the little wooden decked area near one of the lazy river landings (I forget which) because there are trees around if you get a bit too hot.

They open at 9am or 10am depending on the season, and sometimes they have Extra Magic Hours for those staying onsite.

August is the last month that EMHs apply to the water parks. Not sure when they restart again, but would imagine March time, after the 'winter' season.

Most of TL gets sun, which is nice. There are plenty of decked hidden areas if you look closely, but try the back of the park if you want to be near the kids area, or just around the wave pool if the kids will be there. Also, if the kids just want to swim around (rather than do slides and stuff), don't forget the small pool area over by Crush 'n' Gusher - there's sun loungers, a bit of shade, and a small 'plain' pool for them to swim in.
