Best studios?

I understand DVC is not for everyone, but I'm confused at your statement that POP with it's 260 sq ft room is better and has more room than the 366 sq ft studio at AK-K.

Hi Bill! when we stayed at Pop we were able to walk from one side of the room to the other without rearranging furniture. We could freely move about as our children napped in their beds. The space at Pop, be it ever so humble, functioned well for us. When we were at the Kidani studios, I hated not being able to access the balcony or use the only table in the room while the kids napped on the pullout.
While it was certainly beautiful, I just felt that the gigantic bathroom and hallway were a waste for us. We would rather have that room in the sleeping quarters.

That's great, you have a place that fits your needs without the expense and cash out lay DVC requires. It is difficult to justify the cost for DVC when the POP units meet your needs.

Plus the Value's have full sized beds, so the beds take up less floor space. DVC studios are not well laid out for two queen beds - except maybe OKW. They seem to have been designed under the assumption that you'll have a couple in there and won't use the pullout. I can't imagine how you'd move in one with the murphy down.

You aren't alone, there are a lot of DVCers who say that if their intent had been studios, they wouldn't have bought. We certainly wouldn't have.

Yes, to be honest I was really quite shocked at how tight it was. All of the moderates and deluxes we have stayed in just seemed like a roomier nicer stay for us. It's not like staying in the DVC studio was awful, but I just expected to be wowed and really wasn't. I think I expected to be a deluxe room with some added amenities. I guess it is that, but I'd so much rather more living/sleeping space and less hallway and bathroom.
Fingers crossed that in the future they'll do some sort of DVC program where you can stay in a resort or a resort style room! I'd be throwing my money at Disney for that option!

BoardWalk studios are quite comfortable with the Murphy bed down. Chairs and coffee table have to be moved to the side. Between that and folding down the bed, it's about a 30 second conversion process.

Wow! That's way bigger than the one we were in!
There may be hope yet!

Note that the chairs and coffee table are blocking balcony access, though. Wasn't that one of your issues?

With the murphy bed in use, you no longer have a table as that must be folded up to use it. You also don't have much space for clothing as the bed and folding table use up that space, you need to get down on your hands and knees to use the under bed storage. This isn't just for BWV but also BCV, BRV (WL) and

Your definition of comfortable and mine are different - mine would not have a stack of furniture against the patio door. It isn't the conversion process - its moving around the room when all the beds are out - and that includes reaching the balcony.

Its serviceable, but in the same way tent camping is serviceable - but I wouldn't want to spend a week in that configuration.

IMO a one-bedroom is a must, cooking or no cooking. Adults and kids can spread out, it feels more like a vacation and even easy breakfast or heat and eat meals will save enough money to add another day to the vacation. A washer, dryer, dishwasher and refrigerator adds to the appeal.

There is more to Disney than going to the same parks and attractions every vacation. Treating the resort as a resort with access to the parks makes for a more enjoyable vacation for us. No running around keeping to a timeline, boat rentals, water parks, tours, activity centers, pool time, game arcades, just chilling out. :thumbsup2

I loved these rooms!

There are other ways to arrange things. The coffee table and/or chairs could go in front of the connecting door or by the villa entrance. That's simply the way I chose to arrange it.

One thing I noticed regarding AKV value studios vs. BCV studios-the AKV studios, even value, have 2 sinks, whereas the BCV studios have only a single sink. Come to think of it, is that still true after the refurbishment? I've only stayed in 1 BRs at BCV since the refurbishment.

From pictures it still has 1 sink which would match up to BWV after their refurb where they had 1 sink and still have 1 sink. I do like the 2 sinks at Jambo!

Putting in a second sink would be a more major refurbishment than was done. Any time you move or add plumbing, it's a doozy.
