Best Steak question

I love LeCellier, yes the filet is good, the pretzel bread is even better, and they turned me on to Maudite beer. So no complaints.

But, to me The Captains Grille is just as good (comparing NY strip to filet) and comes with both a potato and vegetable - something the rest of the restaraunts seem to forget.

Kona'a Teriyaki steak is also very, very good.

Having eaten the filet, NY strip, and coffee rubbed Kansas City strip at Le Cellier, I would have to say that the KC strip is the best of the three.

I haven't had steaks anywhere else in the world, at this point, but I am willing to bet you can find better steaks. Shula's should (haven't tried there yet either) have a better steak, although that's not on the dining plan and it's a chain that you can find in several metro areas.

I've had steaks from quite a few of the places mentioned, had good steaks and not so good steaks each time! that being said, you're going to find a wide variety of answers since it depends on so many things if your steak is going to be good or not !

Maybe the cook is having a bad day or it's a different cook from the "norm"

Might be a bad cut of meat

YOU might be aggravated, annoyed, hot or whatever to make your steak not taste so good ! on the flip side, you might be having the best day or your life and no matter how that steak is, it's going to be the best you've ever had !

:rotfl: anyway... just my 2 cents !

I don't eat them anymore, but DH loves the ones at Mama Melrose, Turf Club, and Chefs.

I LOVE steak and get it everywhere in Disney. Last year the best place was France.
Years before that were
Wave
Maya Grill
Capt Grill
Coral Reef

Ya know- I expected to be jaded by le celliers filet. I eat good steak all the time- stuff like outback all the time but semi regularly i'll have ruth's chris or mortons or other "nicer" places.
I must say- Le Cellier's filet was def one of the BEST i have ever had. Hard to get a ressie there though. But even though I love risotto I got it w/ the cream cheese mashed potatoes instead and they were literally the most amazing potatoes ever. And I'm a mashed potato foodie :-P

we love the steaks @ the wave @ contemporary!! also the rack of lamb is the bomb too!

Last December I had a NY strip at LeCellier on the FP and it was very good. We went back to LeCellier in late Jan. of this year and my NY strip wasn't that good. DW's filet was good both times.

Sorry but Le Cellier is the best for us. We love the filet. We eat here every time we go. We eat a lot of steak and when you can cut a filet with your fork oh my gosh delicious.... I was slightly disappointed in Dec. of last year but we will be there again in 2 weeks.

You know, I hear so much about one person loving the steak at one place and another loving it at that place.

It's just not that hard to figure out whether a steak is good or not.

I've finally come to the conclusion that Disneyworld consumes a vast amount of steak, Disney has numerous suppliers and there is a ton of inconsistency from supplier to supplier and from shipment to shipment.

It's rather a puzzle, actually. Our steak at Coral Reef was so-so at best, yet others swear by it.

We never go to Le Cellier because we think it's very expensive unless one is on the dining plan. We'd rather use TiW and go to Yachtsman for not much more. So, I can't judge the steaks at Le Cellier, but even the pp noticed a difference in quality from one Le Cellier visit to another.

Oddly, one of the best steaks I've had at Disneyworld was at Tony's Town Square. That was several years ago. I've tried the steak at Tony's since and it has never been anything like that one memorable steak.

We wanted to try the filet at Chef's but it had been taken off the menu during a free dining promotion and replaced with something that did not remotely resemble in taste or texture any that that is or ever was beef. We've given up on Chef's and just go to Bistro upstairs.

We think Shula's steaks are reliably consistent. We always know we will get an excellent steak there. But, as for WDW restaurants, there seems to be very little consistency. So a good steak at a restaurant one evening does not necessarily mean one will have a good steak the next time at the same restaurant. I find this to be somewhat true even at the signature restaurants. That last time I had the filet at Jiko it was fine, but couldn't touch the NY strip we had at Tony's. Go figure.

I love the filet at Le Cellier, but my husband always orders the New York Strip and it's good too.

The absolute best steak I've had at an WDW restaurant recently though was at Raglan Road this past May. I had the New York Strip and could have cut it with my fork it was so tender. Add to that the wonderful dessert options and it was hands down the best meal of our trip. Can't wait to go back there in October!

Another place that doesn't usually come to mind when thinking of steak is Mama Melrose. My family loves Italian food and the atmosphere there, but I always order the steak and I've never been disappointed.

I'm probably going to stand alone on this one, but we all really enjoy the steak in the Surf and Turf option from Rose and Crown. They have always been cooked to perfection, extremely tender, and very flavorful. :thumbsup2

The beef tenderloin at Les Chefs is better than any steak at Le Cellier.

:rotfl2:

Maybe if you get lucky.. the time we ate there, it was worse than a dog's dinner.

The leather on my shoes was more tender. Needless to say, they did NOT serve us a filet, they tried to pass off some eye of round cut to look like a filet on us. Texture was all wrong and like I said, tough as nails (the steak knife couldn't even cut through it without work). Not to mention stone cold raw in the middle.

A bucket of Popcorn on Main St with a Frozen Coke from Tomorrowland for a snack/appetizer
A Turkey Club (no tomato) from Earl *of Sandwich, with Lemonsde Tea and a brownie
Butterscotch Creme Brûlée Corral Reef.

And. While I am at it, breakfast. That's easy, 1900 Park Fair, best Breakfast Buffet ever. The Mad Hatter better be aware that I have nothing to lose, if he starts bugging me.*

That is a lot of food for one day, I'll need a bigger chair, I mean carriage
