Best Steak on Property

While I agree that shulas is the best on property...

Steak is not the meal of choice at WDW. It's all the same at the Disney restaurants. If you need a couple of suggestions though:

Enjoy the surf and turf at Narcoosees...and I think Jiko still has the best prep/sides with a filet...though they have gotten bad reviews of late.

Le cellier and especially yachtsmans are not good in my opinion...that's just me.

It's all here.

Shula and Bull & Bear give the best steak...a better cut of higher quality beef than the others. But those looking for the best cut typically don't buy filet (which lacks the marbling for flavor). So, the rubs at Jiko put its filet at top.

Agree...on all points

Though I love the texture of filet...if I want steak - ribeye is what I envision these days

LOL, I am from the Midwest and have Angus cows all around me (some staring at me funny if you know what I mean, and they carry EAT chikn signs) and I am sick of Ribeye's. We have restaurants up here that their name is just "The Ribeye" where it is the only thing you can get and you just tell your waiter or waitress how many ounces you like. But, after having so many that had the marbleing you are talking about but were more fat than meat, I graduated to New York Strips. The thing with Ribeye's (and Prime Rib for that matter), there is nothing that the Chef can do if it is just a bad cut of meat. To me, pound for pound the Strip properly trimmed is the way to go. Don't know why, but around here the NY Strip is called "the mans steak" the Filet is "the lady's steak" and the Ribeye is "the Cowboy's steak". I am not a Cowboy I guess. Sorry Woody. Buzz must eat NY Strips. pirate:

I agree on LeCellier, not on Yachtsman. Narcoosee's is one I have never been too because it just hasn't worked. All the other GF places I have eaten have not wowed me either and I am not really a fan of the hotel for that matter.

One thing about Steak not being the meal of choice at WDW- What would you say is?

Also, as far as price goes, I saw the review for "homecoming" and they showed a 3 piece chicken dinner with mashed potatoes and one roll and it was $26? That better be some goooooood Chicken cause around here, that plate would be about $7.50. Steak dinners in WDW are about double what we pay here. While more expensive, they might be the better deal....

After reading so many reviews about Shula's we finally gave it a go a couple of years ago and while our meal was very good, neither DH nor I felt it to be any better than what we've had at Yachtsman. To be fair though, I'm not a huge steak fan but when I do eat it, Filet is always my choice of beef and I have to say that I liked it better at Yachtsman. DH, on the other hand, loves a good steak and knows his cuts :).

Based on my experience...slight edge to Yachtsman on the better filet.

The steak at Captain's Grille and Whispering Canyon are also delicious. You don't have to go to the most expensive place to get a good steak. The waitress at Captain's Grille told us it's the same steak they serve at the Yatchsman. Disney doesn't but their food from different vendors depending on the level of the restaurant. It's just how it's cooked (i.e., spices they use, etc.). Just something to think about if you're not on the dining plan.

I don't think there is a meal of choice at WDW anymore...it's all overpriced and mundane at this point...

Maybe loch dart salmon? Or is the loch empty now?

Free range chicken? The range must be the size of Jupiter at this point...

See where I'm going there?

Yachtsmans takes the meat, throws it on the grill and then on the plate. There's a step missing there...you have to season it to bring the flavor out...the only difference between unseasoned ground meat and unseasoned steak is where the knife hit the cow...

As far as homecoming goes...it's an upscale/chefs take on southern food...so the price isn't going to be reflective of Popeyes...I hope not.

Whether it's good or not remains to be seen.

To each their own...I suppose ;)

Great point! Seasoning is huge! With the places on property where i've had some kind of steak I've experienced is: Yachtsman (2 Times) under seasoned, LeCellier (2 Times) over seasoned, Jiko (5 Times) perfectly seasoned, Flying Fish (3 Times) slightly over seasoned, California Grill (2 Times) perfectly seasoned, Shula's (5 Times) perfectly seasoned

Consistently inconsistent.

I would totally give both Le Cellier and Yachtsman one more shot but I'd have a tough time ordering steak again as Yachtsman's really stepped up the non-steak items on their menu and I'd be full on poutine, Unibroue and cheese soup at Le Cellier.

The thing about seasoning though is you can ask for any seasoning on any steak about anywhere.

I agree, I just like it when they get it right for me so I dont have to fix it myself :-). Over Seasoning is another story though can't fix too much seasoning

I was disappointed in Shula's. Just nothing special. The filet at Jiko was the best I've had on property. Yachtsman is very good.

Laurie
