Hello! :wave2:

We are going to DLRP for our first family holiday in September and I am in full planning mode. :surfweb:

I'm worried that I will be so busy thinking about what DD (nearly 3) will want to do that I am in danger of forgetting all about DH!! :rotfl:

It will be his birthday :cake: while we are there and he loves a good steak. Our holidays usually entail me searching out the best dessert :rolleyes1: and him the best steak!

I was hoping that those of you who have been before could offer some advice on the best restaurants for a good steak as there seem to be a few "steak" restaurants...

Thanks!

absolutely the best steak is at the steakhouse in the Disney Village (also the Ibone - fillet/sirloin steak at the Silver Spur is excellent).

Steaks are ok at walt's and if you like surf and turf, the Yachtsclub sometimes has a great Steak and Lobster combo.

:thanks:

Just checked out the menu for the Steakhouse & it looks perfect - just like the one we went to in New York, I shall add it to my list!!

Thanks

The steakhouse is lovely it was our favourite meal during our last trip :thumbsup2

Sorry Gemma, I forgot to post a thank you! :flower3:

p.s. love the idea of a Wedding Planning Trip - absolutely inspired!!!

Bump! :rolleyes1

Sorry to bump, but I'm starting to worry that there won't be anything for DD to eat at The Steakhouse. :confused3

Has anyone eaten here with a small person? Or know what sort of childrens meals are available? I could always just order her a side of mashed potato I suppose! :rotfl:

Another one I looked at was the Beaver Creek Taven which seems to have buffet starters & desserts which could be a compromise. Any thoughts?

Thanks again :goodvibes

We take our 4 and 6 year old here all the time, but that said they love steak. If memory serves though, they also had pasta and other kids options too. Most of the table service have the same menu for kids - steak hache with veg, salad and dessert; pasta with a starter and dessert; and a chicken or fish option with starter and dessert.

Beaver Creek is ok, but nowhere near the quality of food and service, and they have pretty much the same kids menu.

Thanks, it does still sound like the best choice for DH & me!

DD isn't quite 3 yet and is too lazy to chew real meat :rotfl: she prefers sausages & rubbish like that!

I'm not sure how the meal options for her will work generally because we won't get meal vouchers for her. I think buffet meals are free for under 3's, it's just the table service restaurants that seem to be a bit vague price wise.:confused3

Obviously I don't want to be paying for a meal she won't eat.

Oh, decisions, decisions...!

Kids under three eat free in buffet restaurants only. Everywhere else it is a case of feed her from your plates (you can ask for an extra plate) or order her a kids meal and pay for it.

For us, we always opted for the feeding from our plates and ordering an extra side if need be.

That said, even now, my two split either a kids meal or adult meal dependent on what they want.

The steakhouse has loads of side options and the staff there are more likely to do something a little special if need be given it is one of the finer restaurants on property.

Sorry I did look for you when we were there but the childrens menu wasnt posted - the menu outside just had a price (think it was 11E) for the childrens menu and said a choice of starter/main/dessert

Thank you both!! :goodvibes

That's really helped. I think that unless the childrens menu is something she would definitely eat, we'll opt for feeding her from our plates and getting an extra side. She loves her mashed potato!!

I think that we can still make the Steakhouse work for us then, which is good new for DH!

:thanks:

Great news. We have been enjoying the steakhouse as just a couple, and even taking the kids when they were 3 months old. Warning, my kids feel so at home there, they have now developed expensive tastes. Now my 6 year old would rather have steak or lobster at DLP over any other options the resort serves. :rotfl:
