We are planning our trip for May and my dad wants the best steak at disney... anyone opinions?? I'm not a steak person myself so don't know where to send him..

It depends on what his idea of a good steak is. Last year on our Honeymoon we were on the Deluxe Dining Plan so I had a lot of steaks. Much to my surprise the best steak of the trip was the NY Strip at Coral Reef. Generally I don't eat a strip as I prefer a filet or ribeye. But that steak was perfect.

Best Disney owned, I would definitely give that to the NY Strip at Coral Reef. After that, I'd go with filet at California Grill. I've dined at Yachtsman Steakhouse 3 times now and I have been overly disappointed in the steak there... it's a good thing they have a great dessert, though nothing was more disappointing than Jiko's filet for me. I like flavor, I like seasoning, chewing something bland has no interest to me.

For on Disney property, Shula's wins that HANDS DOWN! But they are also all over the country so if you have one in your hometown, I'd suggest going to that one and saving that dining spot for a Disney-only restaurant.

Will you be on a Dining Plan or paying out of pocket? If not on DDP, then Shula's at the Dolphin Hotel. If using dining credits, then probably Yachtsman Steakhouse.

I also saw that Todd English's bluezoo (also at Dolphin Hotel) serves a steak of Four Story Hill Farm aged beef for (it's $60). Although I've not eaten it there, this is some of the best beef available in the country. My friend's restaurant in Chicago gets some beef from this farm. If the steak at Morton's, Shula's, Ruth's Chris, etc., is a Cadillac then Four-Story Hills steak is a Bentley. But the best steak I ever had at WDW is the Japanese Wagyu served at Victoria & Albert's. Unfortunately it costs more than $200 ($80 extra on top of what you pay for the regular dinner).

How about either the Australian "Kobe" beef or Japanese Wagyu beef, both of which are extra cost options at Victoria and Albert's.

thanks! he just keeps saying he wants to pick a great steak and have them cook it the way he likes? thanks!

A step down from what has been mentioned but very good never the less is the mushroom filet at LeCellier. My 77 year old father said it was one of the tenderest steaks he ever had last year and he requested to go back this year and they cooked it the way he wanted it.
Noticed you went on a cruise earlier this year, my parents won't go on any other cruiseline after Disney.

With the disclaimer that we haven't tried Shula's, our vote goes to Yachtsman. We've tried steak at just about every other restaurant you can name at WDW and YSH just beats them all.

The best steak that I have had was at Citricos (Grand Floridian), the Filet Sicilian. It was so tender and just perfect. Mmmm. I thought it was better than the Yachtsman.

We've never been to Yachtsman or Shula's so no comment about their steaks. We've had steaks at Le Cellier and Turf Club. Both DH and DS love the steak and prime rib at Turf Club. Guess we'll have to try Yachtsman and Shula's soon!

My husband LOVES steak, so we've eaten at MANY disney restaurants with steak on the menu! We also eat at Morton's, Shula's, Flemings, RuthChris, Capital Grille, and Oregon Grille here in Maryland on a regular basis so we know good steaks! Here are our favorite - in order from the best to the worst:

JIKO - filet and mac and cheese were fabulous!

Corel Reef - filet and the ny strip were great! Atmosphere was cool but the service was SLOW!

LeCellier - food was great and the atmosphere was fun

Shula's - Good but expensive - would not go if on the dining plan

Yachtsman Steakhouse - not very good in my opinion and the mac and cheese was HORRIBLE! Service was not good either. The best part was we were staying at the Beach Club and had a short walk back to our room! :rotfl2:

Love the cowboy ribeye and the porterhouse at Yachtsman. Both were wonderful. The onion rolls there are SOOOOO good!

Haven't tried it but friends rave about the steak at Flying Fish. Agree with PP get the sauce on the side but it is supposed to be amazing. On my list for next time:thumbsup2
