Where is a good place to view fireworks at magic kingdom and then leave w/o getting trampled to death?

There are many good spots to see the fireworks. Our favourite (and used to be secret but not anymore) spot is along a path to the right before the main street 'hub' that's just behind the popcorn cart and runs from Main St. to the Tomorrowland entrance. We can lean against the railing and have a perfect view of the castle and of Tinkerbell flying almost over our heads.
As for not getting trampled, the best advice I can give is to just relax and let everyone else leave first! We usually stay in our spot for about 15-20 minutes, or wander into the park instead of out of it. Avoid Main Street for at least half an hour and then you can stroll right out. I would rather spend half an hour taking in the sights and sounds of the evening at MK, even if it's from a bench, than spend half an hour doing the exit shuffle. All of the gift shops stay open past the fireworks, and we've even wandered around Adventureland with no one around until it was time to go to our bus.

Yeah, unless you're back near the entrance near the train station, not much chance of trying to leave and not be in a sea of people.

Find a good spot and just wait for the masses to head out. Enjoy some shopping, grab some ice cream or something from the bakery and then make your way out. By then the pileup at the buses/monorails/ferries should be a lot lighter.

Some of our most quiet times have been when we walk into tomorrow land instead of heading out. We get as far as we can and then count how many CM's tell us it is closed and point to the exit. We have often had nice chats with the CM's and enjoy our time just alone in the park.

We walk down main street in peace and then even take time as we know the lines for the busses can be long still. We will wait for bus if it is standing only and just take our time.

Slow down and enjoy!

I believe the best spot in MK to view fireworks, is the path leading to the old loading building for the Plaza Swan Boats. It is a perfect view, and you can lean right up against the rail there.

We usually watch it at the end of Main Street, or we enjoy them even more behind the Castle, by the Pooh area.

I am going to try where you said ILOVEEYORE....I guess it would be a good perspective to see Tinkerbell directly overhead.

Another plus to hanging out - you can see the Kiss Goodnight on your way out.
