So I made a list of well-spent monies - as in, 'It was expensive but WORTH EVERY PENNY'.

Here are the top entries:

1. 4 family tickets to Auburn vs Bama 2013 kick six game, most stunning last second in the history of sports.

2. 2 tickets to Joshua Bell violinist virtuoso center loge, best seats in the house!

3. dinner at Victoria & Alberts

4. Garth Brooks concert 10th row

5. Boll & Branch sheets

6.Paying a local moving company to finish packing up my parents' house and driving everything to my home for final sorting and selling.

7. Two amazon alexa echo video machines to have video calls with my elderly parents.

8. A $500 pill dispenser to keep my elderly mother from taking double pills.

9. And last but best, paying a licensed snake remover $50 to check my miata for a snake after something with 'heft' fell out of a tree and hit me on the arm. That's right people, money can't buy happiness but it can dang sure check your convertible for snakes. :tilt:

Buying business class tickets for my flights to the UK. Nothing like having a flat bed to sleep on instead of trying to sleep sitting up squashed between strangers. I also got to have two carryon bags plus my handbag, so I didn’t have to check any luggage, and the food was better. Worth every penny!

New HVAC system. Love it, saves me from having to put window ac's in the windows every summer, and saves me from dealing with the wood stove all winter
also my new riding mower..our big lawn was getting too much for me to do with the self propelled mower

Remodeling our house. It was built in 1979 We bought it in 1983. It was almost exactly as built when we remodeled in 2013. Raised two kids in this house, converted it from a family home to our retirement home. Spent more on the remodel than we did for the house in the first place. But even with the original purchase price, an addition we put on 25 years ago, and the remodel we're still only into it for $245,000, less than half of what we could sell it for today.

Our kitchen remodel in 2019. Our old kitchen was cramped, had virtually no counter space and a small built-in oven and it made me cranky. The expense was well worth it.

Bosch dishwasher. As part of the kitchen remodel, we got a dishwasher for the first time. I love this dishwasher. It's quiet and the does a great job.

Purchasing DVC 22 years ago, money well spent. I bought when the prices were reasonable, added on 3xs and could sell today and get my money back.

Cruise to Cuba. We were on the 6th sailing after the embargo was loosened. It was a small ship with designated people to people cultural exchanges, pricey but worth every cent. As Americans who used to frequent Key West and the famous 90 miles to Cuba buoy, it was SO exciting to get to go, and to actually have meaningful interactions with the Cuban people.

My roombas, I have two. Spending $500 to rent sheets and towels for our beach house rental, 6 bedrooms, every year I need to sort through all of our sheets, make the beds on arrival, and then do the laundry for 12 people’s worth of sheets, pillowcases, bath and beach towels. The rental cost $16,000 for the week, definitely worth $500.

The 2 week trip to Japan I did in 2019. Probably the best vacation I've had in my entire life. I would absolutely do it again and even go places I didn't get to last time once Japan opens for tourism and I save some money.

In terms of a physical item, a new laptop. My old one was on it's last legs. The new one I bought was expensive but totally worth it. Also said goodbye to Apple products during the transition and I haven't looked back since.

This is pretty trivial but the $850 cordless Dyson vacuum with the laser on it that shows you crumbs was worth every penny. I thought the laser was just going to be a gimmick, but nope... LIFE CHANGING.
I thought Dysons were gimmicks before actual getting a Dyson...now it's the only vacuum brand I'll buy. Small money saving tip for anyone looking to get one...buy them from the Dyson Outlet store on ebay refurbished. I have a few like that and they come to you seemingly brand new and work perfectly. And sometimes ebay has a 15-20% off refurbished items coupon.

Nest thermostat. I REALLY don't miss the old days with the cheap programmable thermostat. That thing never worked right. If you get a little hot or a little cold, just twist the face - done. It learns so after a while you don't have to touch it at all. I also like being able to make those little adjustments on the app on my phone. That's great if you don't want to get out of bed on a cold morning, but also great if you go away on a trip and want to turn the whole system off from wherever you end up.

It seemed like a lot when we bought it but now can't live without it - AND, I live in Coastal SO Cal so I don't even have AC! This thing would pay for itself in a couple of months if we did.

1. Congratulations on attending the "second most stunning" last second in sports. This is the most.

You can't beat the band being out on the field and the trombone player getting crushed. :)

Off the top of my head...

1. Having a professional landscaper come in and do all the landscaping when we built our house. We have 4 acres of land and ended up planting 38 trees, 20 shrubs, and dozens of other plants. Eighteen years later, we really appreciate the foresight the landscaper had when placing clusters of trees/shrubs throughout the yard.

2. My Bosch dishwasher. Not sure why I wasted money on any other dishwasher. I will never own a different brand.

3. My Dyson hair dryer. I have thick curly hair and that thing is a dream come true for my curls. I love it so much that I bought a travel bag for it and it goes everywhere with me.

4. I'll probably get slammed for this one but here goes....Genie+ and ILL. We accomplished more in the first 5 days of our trip than I thought we'd get done during the entire 8 days we were there. We were FP+ power users and I had many doubts about G+/ILL before we arrived. Within 24 hours, I was a fan....a big fan. It added about $900 to our trip, but it was well worth it for us.

5. Epcot Fireworks Cruise. We've done this twice and loved every minute of it. Hope to do it again one day.
