Best Spent Money List! Add yours!

My Apple Watch. It’s not for everyone, but it’s very useful and worth the price for me.

My Chime mailbox notification thing. I have a long driveway and the mail isn't always delivered at the same time. This thing works like a charm!

Getting my two oldest each their own car. Not having to run them places, hear them argue over using one of our cars and being able to have them help with running the younger ones around sometimes is invaluable. And our DVC membership which we first bought into back when it was actually a good deal. Wouldn’t be able to afford our one or twice yearly 2 week trips otherwise. So glad we did that when we did.

Divorce lawyer :rolleyes1
I felt this one in my soul & agree 100%!

I traded my 2020 F150 2WD for a 2019 F250 Lariat and it has been the best money we've ever spent. It pulls our camper like nothing is back there & it's just a pure joy to drive every day!

Our hot tub. We are actually on our third one we love having one so much. We don't use it every day, heck there are times we don't use it all during a month but boy, when the old bones are so sore you want to cry, a soak in a hot tub is grand. We've had our current one probably about 10 years and it's still going strong. The one before it was o.k. but just a tad too big for the room we had it in. The one before that the motor gave out.

Our LG fridge. We've had that sucker for over 20 years and have only had to repair the water lines for the water dispenser. That was fun, sitting here one night when hubby was out of town and heard water start rushing. Ran in the kitchen and floor was flooding. Thankfully its on wheels so I rolled it out and turned off the water. Quick trip to Lowe's when hubby got home, old line repaired and that was that.

Big expensive purchase, our fifth wheel RV and new truck to tow it. Pure did not need but wanted expense. We researched for a year and paid cash for both the truck and the RV. It really came in handy during the worse of Covid because hubby had to travel to other offices out of state and we just had our own little home so he didn't have to stay in hotels. We haven't used it a lot for personal use but use it at least 3 times a year for hubby's trips and use it to go visit hubby's parents. We have water and electric set up for it out in their side yard and it's nice to have our own space and not having to get up on their schedule. We have stayed in the Fort at Disney with it and that was a different experience. Big money eater but we love it. As a matter of fact, hubby just ordered about $4000 worth of stuff to do an upgrade so we can run just about everything off grid except the AC. He plans on putting solar on some time later for that.

So lots of years investments:

FInishing the basement and putting up a big screen and a projector down there made that a safe space for my kids and their friends to hang out clear through college so knowing where they were and that they were safe was worth every dime and I'd do it again in a heartbeat for even twice the amount.

The family vacations and taking the kids out of school were worth every dime and sideways glance I got from the other PTA & Sports moms. I sort of wish there was a PTA reunion so I could blast, your kids ARE NOT doing better than mine and vacations didn't ruin them, in fact my kids say they had the perfect childhood... I want a sports mom reunion too :teeth:.

Dumpster, I wish I did one every 5 years or so, it is awesome.

Moving bed, got it as an indulgence but it saved me as I recovered from surgery.

TIVO, back in the day it was the best tech we ever adopted.

ADT, having my house alarmed ages ago gave so much peace of mind, not sure I would do ADT but having an alarm is really very calming in some areas.

Flowers, getting fresh flowers is such a mood boost, they don't need to be expensive.

Steam cleaner when my kids were little, no words for how great it was.

Awards & Bonus for good grades, I would like to toss this one up at the PTA & Sports mom reunion too.... pffft.

We paid extra for close seats to see Angela Lansbury in Blithe Spirit about 7 years ago (25th wedding anniversary). We flew from Chicago to Washington DC for the weekend, and I've never, ever regretted the $$$ spent.

We also paid over $2,000 for a wood cabinet bed for our spare room. We have overnight guests pretty regularly, but not enough to keep a bed in the room -- too much space for the time used. It's a great, comfortable bed, and we just love it.

Experiences for my dad after my mom passed unexpectedly years ago.
-WDW to see last Osborne lights
-South Bend Cubs 15 pack tickets yearly
-Kwings 5 pack tickets yearly
-season tickets to local theatre yearly

He’s had several health challenges so baseball, hockey and theatre tickets make him happy as he spends these with me and my DD25 and shares his passions.

We have that cabinet bed too and it’s great-and comfortable. Although my husband detached his bicep as we were moving it into place-so it caused a lot of pain and agony at the time.

Bosch dishwasher and my lovely green six burner Bluestar gas stove. And our soapstone countertops. We did a big remodel right before Covid-cost a lot but worth every penny. Moved our tiny kitchen and the one we have now is big and so useable-and a great gathering place.

My 100 DVC points at Grand Californian. They have more than doubled in cost since we bought 5 years ago, and we love using them and being able to take kids and friends with us.

The two Subaru Foresters we’ve owned. Our first one we bought new in 2005-over 300K on it and still use it daily. Bought a new one last year and the safety features on it are amazing.

My Tesla car. Not because it's a great value, because it's not. Just because it's the only expensive thing I've ever bought that I didn't feel guilty and tell myself I should been more practical and gone with a cheaper option. I just love owning it and driving it that much.

:thumbsup2Completely agree with @monarchsfan16 that I never have nor ever will regret one penny spent on vacations!

  • Wash, starch and press service for DH's dress shirts
  • Having the house (interior) painted professionally
  • Hiring professional movers
  • Donations to the Canadian Leprosy Mission. Did you know $32/CAD worth of antibiotics can completely cure someone of leprosy?!?
