Cake or lots of chocolate? :flower3:

I don't love chocolate or even go out of my way to eat it. Maybe if it's having an affair with peanut butter or dating caramel. Possibly seeing mint on a semi regular basis. This also includes chocolate ice cream and cake. (I also don't like cheesecake, which my husband considers almost divorcable...)

Which leads me to my husband, he hates cake. Except for rum cake, which okay, whatever floats his boat. He does like chocolate though, so he's not as hopeless as me. I know we could get chips or fruit or other things, but I'm really looking for the best sweet treats. (Could be because neither of us likes chips either..probably lucky we found each other) He does like pie though!

So any advice on where to get the best sweet treats that aren't drenched in chocolate or made of cake?:yay:

(If anywhere a chocoholic faints, I apologize in advance)

epcot - Germany - new candy place, caramel....

I've not been, but have seen pictures on a trip report - <drool>

cant wait to try it in January - DD loves to try many of the different candies in EPCOTS different countries as well... (she likes the hard candy in Italy as well)

Kaki Gori in Japan. It's like a snow cone with strawberry, honeydew, or tangerine flavors. It's not as syrupy sweet as American snow cones. YUM!

I like caramel! What's not to love? Oooey gooey goodness? I'm there. Thanks for the info. :goodvibes

I'm also a fan of sno-cone like things! If I could find my Snoopy sno-cone machine, I would be eating one right now. Doesn't everyone have a Snoopy sno-cone machine? That could be just me, but I'm okay with that. :rolleyes1

Two words: creme brulee.

Your assignment, should you choose to accept it, is to sample all the different types/flavors of creme brulee that WDW has to offer. You'd be amazed at the variety! Just spend an afternoon on AllEars going through the menus. And we'll give you a free pass at Kona, where it comes with chocolate on the bottom.

Other goodies: Kaka Gori ice slushies in Japan. Various smoothies, with or without alcohol (ok, NOT a DDP snack credit. But a Grand Marnier slushie from the kiosk in France makes a darn nice evening snack). Do pastries with flaky crust and cream fillings work? Check out the cloudberry horns in Norway. And there are lots of pastry options (Napoleons, cream puffs) at the bakery in France. Soft pretzel in Germany? Filled soft pretzels (watch out for the jalapeno one in AK; you have been warned) in several parks. Even at some of the basic park CS places you can get things like key-lime-pie-in-a-cup or strawberry-shortbread-parfait-in-a-cup instead of chocolate-cake-in-a-cup. If pie works, there are apple pies and tarts at several restaurants. I think Boatwrights has a pecan pie, too.

Saved the best for last: have lunch/dinner at Yak & Yeti TS in AK. One person gets the fried wonton dessert. The other person gets the mango shortbread pie. Report back and let us know which one you liked most. :thumbsup2

one of the cream cakes from 'France' at their patisserie you could eat something different every day for a fortnight.

A pineapple dole whip from MK or a strawberry shortcake sundae from Mrs Potts Cupboard (which I think has been renamed)

A gift shop rice krispie treat.

If you are there for F&W the choices are endless ;)

Lol! I gotta say, I love you for the bringing a smile to my face. I LOVED my Snoopy Sno-Cone machine. You have no idea how happy I was to see those back in the stores a few years ago..and I could have kicked myself for not getting one! :sad1: They were the best!

Anyway.. Lots of goodies to be had without chocolate and without being cake. One of our favorite places to go for a little sweets break is Boulangerie Patisserie in France. My husband LOVES (the caps are totally necessary for that, too) the creme puffs and eclairs. I'm not going to suggest what I get because it's..chocolate mousse. :scared1:

I also love, love the rice cream at Kringla Bakeri og Cafe in Norway. They have a lot of very good desserts. People rave about the School Bread, but that's one I haven't tried yet.

Main Street Bakery is one of our favorite places to stop. The cinnamon buns are SO good. Plus they also have cookies and ice cream cookie sandwiches. Sleepy Hollow in MK also has funnel cakes. We also get Dole Whip every single trip to MK even in the winter. It's just our thing. :lmao: Lots of people get Mickey shaped rice krispie treats, too. The Main Street Confectionary is a great place to stop and check out. Maple fudge..yum!

There are SO many good things to eat in WDW. If you haven't already taken at look at some menus, you should. You'll be able to get a good idea of what's out there for you that might suit your tastes. :goodvibes

I do accept! Mainly because I've never had creme brulee... How I don't know, but there it is. Pastries work, I have seen a picture of that cloudberry horn, which of I ended up calling a stuffed unicorn horn to my husband while trying to describe it.

I do know we have ADR's for Kona and Yak and Yeti, I had the Mr. go through menus and pick where for the most part since neither of us are really all that picky (desserts aside ;) ) I was busy watching Top Gear and there is just no talking to me during that, so I'm sort of aware of where we are eating... for the most part.

And pies in a cup? Pure awesome.

I like chocolate sparingly, too.

Some of my faves:

Chai cream at Sanaa
Apple-empanada-thing at the new La Hacienda in Mexico
Grapefruit cake at Brown Derby (yes, cake, but thin layers and not overwhelmingly sweet)

one of the cream cakes from 'France' at their patisserie you could eat something different every day for a fortnight.

A pineapple dole whip from MK or a strawberry shortcake sundae from Mrs Potts Cupboard (which I think has been renamed)

A gift shop rice krispie treat.

I have seen tales of this infamous dole whip, so I will probably try it, but I also like pineapple, the husband does not... or coconut for that matter, how he sleeps at night I will never know...

I lovvvvvvvvvvvvve the Snoopy sno-cones! The Mr. grew up poor, like dirt floor poor (well literally, concrete floor poor) and we have had fun the last few years getting all the things I had as a kid and he never got to have, sno- cones included. :lovestruc

Now, funnel cakes, I love, we plan on one since the husband has never had one-:sad2: Also cinnamon rolls, the last time I tried to make them (from scratch, dontcha know?) they looked BEAUTIFUL, but, they would have cracked a tooth.

I should probably start looking at more pictures or menus. Or both. I have free time- I like to use the time when I should be doing laundry. :)

Apple-empanada-thing- The Mr. will be all over this if he sees it, for sure. I do like cake, cupcakes, and the like, just not chocolate versions. And chai cream? Sounds very good. Now I'm hungry. I blame you all. ;)

The coconut ice pops at the La Hacienda CS restaurant are my new favorite treat. We discovered them during our trip in April -- fortunately, it was toward the end of our trip. In August, I fear I will have to go to Epcot every day just to get the ice pop. There are a couple other flavors, but we're in love with coconut.

Sounds like you need a dolewhip float!!! :lovestruc
I probably do. :goodvibes

Oh, coconut. If I could write a love song, it would be about coconut. All tropical flavors really. Banana, coconut, pineapple, orange, etc. I should live on an island.... Instead I live in a desert. Good burritos here though. :yay:

They do have Orange ones too, not just Pineapple, you can also get plain Vanilla or either one swirled with it.

I'm a big fan of the patisserie (bakery) at Epcot, in France. I like their napoleons and cream puffs.

I also like Dole whip floats (not just the soft serve ice cream, but the "float" that comes with pineapple juice). It's really good.

Well if you look at my picture you will see that I love the rice krispie treats BUT I also LOVE the Cream Cheese Stuffed Pretzel found in Tomorrowland.

OMG YUM!!!!!!!!!!!! Sometimes I get one to go and eat it back in the room!

I also LOVE LOVE LOVE Dole Whips!

If anyone sees a 6ft tall blonde man rolling his curly red haired wife around Florida Willy Wonka style in late September, please refer to this thread...

I don't know if it counts as "cake" (they're more like a donut in texture), but school bread in Norway is awesome, as is anything else from their or the bakery in France. A hidden gem IMO is the Apple Strudel at the CS place in Germany; they give you a huge slice with a nice vanilla sauce for just $4.

Then there's all the ice cream concoctions at MK, plus our fav., the ice cream sandwiches at the MS Bakery. MK and HS also both have candy shops with fudge, rice crispy treats, different types of candies, chocolate dipped pretzels and marshmallows, and awesome candied and caramel apples.

I think it would be fair to say that in our house, we consider krispie treats a food group. I haven't yet got the government to agree to it yet, but I figure, they probably shouldn't be giving diet advice anyhow, so food group it is! :thumbsup2

You had me at marshmallows. (Also, I'm suffering from avatar envy. Baby Gonzo-:lovestruc)
