I bought the Canon S3 IS and am not happy. I loved the convenience of my small camera, which I gave away when I purchased the S3. Any suggestions for the best small camera that is also good at videos? The videos and pictures are fantastic with the S3 but I enjoy the smaller camera.

I have the big sister to the S3. I have a XT and sometimes I wish I had an easy to carry credit card size camera. Certain occasions I would like a few pics and then be able to slip it in a pocket and forget about it for a while.

But, sorry I have no suggestions...

How tiny do you want it. No zooming lens to stick out, like credit card size? Or something just a little smaller, more pocketable than the S3 size?
Oh, and of course, the price range you are interested in.

I believe that you are expecting too much out of your camera to do great video and be a small form factor. If you go smaller, you are likely going to give up the video features of more than 3x zoom and being able to adjust the zoom while shooting. If video is what you are really looking to capture, then get a real video camera instead of trying to get your still camera to do video. There is a reason that the best still cameras do not do video (i.e. DSLRs). It is because they were not designed to do it and should not be.

Sorry if this sounds harsh, but many too many people are expecting too much out of consumer grade cameras these days. The technology is just not there yet.

I have an XTi but also a Fuji F31 as my pocket camera. (There is also a F40 and a F50 out now.) I love it for it's excellent low-light capabilities and the fact that it is cheap (under $200). Check out www.dpreview.com for many, many, many camera reviews.

I have been doing research and looking for the same thing and came up with the TZ3, it has 10x zoom, but I am giving up the manual controls for the size. My friend has it and loves it. I am buying today and leave for Disney on Friday.

the other slightly larger big brother FZ8 was also in the running. I researched on www.dpreview.com and www.dcresource.com
