hi guys :) i'm looking for a condo close to wdw, may 29-june 2, 2013. need at least 2 bedrooms and pull-out couch or bunk beds. we're 3 adults and a 16 year old. i've been looking on VRBO.com, but the site seems pretty glitchy this morning, and most of the possibilities i've found are slightly higher in price than i'd like. i need your recommendations!

also, if anyone can give me an idea of about how much the resort fees and taxes would be, i'd greatly appreciate it! i'm trying to do this for less than the price of a POP room, to convince DH to stay offsite (POP is big enough for DH, DD15 and i, but, with my 21 year old cousin along, staying at POP means i sleep with DD15 and DH sleeps with my cousin! not exactly ideal! lol).

Try posting on the Orlando hotels sub forum. They are very helpful there and have info on Windsor Hills and Bonnet Creek condos which are extremely popular.

Vacation Central Florida is very popular.

We have stayed at the Liki Tiki which is great if you have little ones. They have thier own on site water park.

We also liked Bonnet Creek and Summer bay but the best by far was Worldquest. we have booked through trip advisor, flipkey and direct through the resort. We had issues with an unscrupulous owner who had not paid his resort fees. The resort in turn tried to tell us we were fobidden from resort areas ie the pool. We got it sorted out and got a significant upgrade but it made me nervous about using flipkey again. I would suggest Worldquest but book through the resort not an individual owner.
The resort is 1 mile from Disney. The place we got had 2 rooms with 2 twins in each as well as 1 king master suite with a jacuzzi. The kids bedrooms had thier own bath. We had a screened balcony overlooking the pool. We had a full kitchen and large living area. There is a washer and dryer so you can pack less.
It is gated but security is lax. Some days we never saw a guard. We saved loads staying there and making a lot of meals in room. Publix and Walmart are nearby for groceries.

You are looking at an extremely popular weekend with special activities at all Parks in the area (not just Disney) with thousands of people coming for these events. So more than likely everything decent has already been rented out.

It looks like Dreams Villas www.dreamsvillas.com is open for those dates.
We haven't stayed there but with it being owned by Kevin and John from the podcast that is where I would stay if we went offsite...since it is someone I "know".

thanks, everyone! :goodvibes

what do you think of this one? it would allow each of us to have a bedroom, gets great reviews, and, best of all, it's really close to disney!

I looked at their map. It may be three miles to WDW, but that would be on a straight line to the nearest point of Disney property. Living in the area I will tell you it is about a half-hour drive to any of the Parking Lots.

bummer. i checked the map too. not nearly as close as advertised. i'll keep looking. DH would freak if it took us 1/2 an hour to get to wdw (he REALLY wants to stay onsite, but 4 people in a tiny room at POP just isn't something i want to deal with).

how about this one?

We used Vacation Central Florida last year to book a condo in Windsor Hills. It is a 10 minute drive to Disney. We'll stay there again next time we're going to Disney.

Much better location. You are two traffic lights (about a five minute drive) from the Hotel Plaza Blvd Gate. And it is a nicer neighborhood.

Awesome! THANK YOU! :worship:

Now I just have to check with my cousin and make sure he'll be able to go with us! He's in college, and he'll be taking a summer class the entire month of May, and had to check with his professor to make sure there were no tests on May 29-30.

well, my cousin can't go on the trip. his professor e-mailed him back and, apparently, he has a test scheduled during our trip, so cousin decided not to go. it's a physics class, and, with it being summer session, the professor isn't doing any make-up exams. boo. this would've been cousin's first trip to WDW (at age 21!), and we were ALL so excited. what a bummer! but, i've promised him he can go with us next time. he graduates next year, so i've already got a graduation trip percolating in the back of my brain. ;)

the silver lining is, with it just being the 3 of us, we can stay at POP for slightly less than an offsite room, and DH really wanted to stay onsite.

thank you, everyone, for your help & suggestions, especially you, Cheshire Figment! I really appreciate it! :goodvibes

I can't comment on Regal Oaks, but we just got back from Lighthouse Key, and Regal Oaks is affiliated with them. Lighthouse Key was absolutely perfect. My DH and I had a 3br/3bath condo which was WAY more than we needed but was all they had available at the time. We didn't want to leave! The entire condo would have slept 8. Too cold for us to use the pool but it looked nice. About 5 minutes to AK. Highly recommend.
