is it worth it to research and find dining plans and tickets elsewhere other than straight through disneys site? or is that the only way to get them added to a reservation? im looking to rent DVC point for a deluxe resort but confused on how the dining plan would work. I got the disney plan last time but because we go out everynight to a fancy 2 TS restaurant everynight i think it would be worth it to get the deluxe plan

Dining plans can only be added through Disney, if you are renting DVC points the owner will need to add the plan for you, and you will pay for the plan in full at time of booking. You can look for ticket deals elsewhere.

This is exactly what we did for our upcoming trip in early Sept. We went through a DVC points agent. Then once the reservation was secured and confirmed we had the option to add a dining plan. It can be ordered up to about 30 days before (i wouldnt cut it that close myself) but at that time you would have to pay for it in full. It does not need to be ordered at the time of securing your lodging. Also we were able to buy tickets from an authorized ticket seller (have used them several times now) and it saved us a little bit then from buying from disney direct. With the dining plan the agent contacted the owner and they booked it and we got confirmation within a few days. As for the tickets we bought them well in advance of the 60 day fast pass window and we able to add them to the my disney exp app so it made booking fast passes super easy. The dining plan will not show up on the disney exp app - it has to be linked once you get onsite to your resort. Hope this helps.

The 30 days they gave you was just the cutoff for the specific DVC points agent that you used. For all members the dining plan just needs to be added at least 48 hours prior to check in. Different points brokers have different windows so that they can ensure enough time to give the specific owner to add the plan for the renter. The dining plan credits for whatever reason don't show up for DVC reservations in the MDE app, but it is already linked to your reservation. To test this, on your arrival day, after you check in (online check in is fine), you should be able to do a mock mobile order and you will see your credits there, they just aren't tracked in the app for DVC members.
