Best site for photo book?

DH had some amazing business travel this year, and my father I were able to accompany him. I would like to make a photo book for my Pop. He's not into digital anything, so a book is the right fit. I've all ready culled through all the pictures taken, and picked 120 photos I would like to use.

I looked a Snapfish and Shutterfly, but they seem interchangeable. Also, I'm not a scrapbooker and laying all this out will be interesting .

Does anyone have any suggestions? Is one site better than the other? Do I get a regular book or one that lays flat? And which dimension? Too many choices!!!

I have used Shutterfly for the last 10 years. Never been disappointed and with coupon codes the prices are decent. I'm not super creative but find it's easy to make something I'm very happy with.

I've always been pleased with Shutterfly. You can choose from several sizes, themes and layouts; the 8x8 is my go-to size. I'm not sure what you mean by a regular book or one that lays flat.

Pretty much all I do is upload the photos I want to include, Shutterfly drops them in, and I shuffle them around as needed. There's an option to add captions, which works well for trips.

Best of all, I can always find a promo code to bring the price down significantly.

Thanks for the quick replies! Shutterfly has something called "lay flat pages" so that when you open the book, it looks like one continuous sheet instead of the seam in the middle where pages join the spine of the book. It has something to do with how the pages are bound together.

Shutterfly books are a bit higher quality than the Sanapfish ones.

If you want an extremely high quality one, check out blurb.com - their books are gorgeous and reasonably priced (especially for larger books.)

I have used Shutterfly for the last few years (I used to scrapbook everything, but don't have the time anymore). You can be as creative or not with your books. You can pick a theme, but also when editing, you can also pick additional pre-made "idea pages". For example, if you pick a "travel theme" book, but have pictures from NYC or San Francisco, there are special "idea pages" that have icons or embellishments that would be for those cities that might not be in the travel theme.

Another vote for Shutterfly. You can frequently find coupons / codes, quality is good with a variety of options per your preference (hard cover v soft, lay flat, etc) & easy to use

I haven't done anything other than Shutterfly in a decade, so I can't make comparisons. But I love Shutterfly! If you're not in the mood to actually design the book, I think they have a service for like $10 or so where they'll take your photos and design the book. I don't know much about it and I love designing my books too much to actually use such a service, but it might be worth looking into if you're not in the mood to try designing yourself. I think you don't pay unless you order the book, so you could try it and see if you like the book and if not try making it yourself.

I've never done layflat pages, but I think it only really matters if you have photos that go across the "gutter" (the space right in the middle where the pages join). If you keep the pages separate, you'll be fine. But there are some great layouts that go across the gutter. I've always thought the upgrade was too expensive to try, especially given how many photo books I make.

I usually do them at Costco. You set it up online and then pick the book up at the store a few days later.

The best quality photo book I have made came from Adoramapix. The pages are real photo paper and the photos come out looking great. I used them when I wanted to showcase some nice portrait style photos of the kids. However, if you are looking to scrapbook some snapshots, picaboo or mypublisher are pretty good quality for that type of photobook.

I use picaboo for my photo books. It's pretty intuitive, lots of layouts, backgrounds, etc. The quality of the books is great. They have coupons all the time. You can usually find them right on their home page.
