Best signature restaurant for DH and I?

DH and I are going to be in WDW in August, and we're not doing the dining plan. We typically eat a pretty early dinner, but I was thinking it would be nice to select a signature restaurant and have a late appetizer and dessert somewhere one night, because we haven't been to one before. I want something special...I was leaning toward Cali Grill for the view and fireworks, but I'm not too familiar if somewhere else is so delicious and special it would be better. :) We're not terribly adventurous eaters, if that matters - just looking for somewhere with good food and a magical atmosphere.

Oh - if it matters, we'll probably be eating at Le Cellier, Coral Reef, LTT lunch, 50's Prime Time, Les Chefs de France lunch, and Rainforest Cafe elsewhere on our trip.

Thanks in advance for suggestions!

I really enjoy YSH, the service was great and the fliet I had was out of this world. After dinner you could walk the boardwalk or even better ready a bike built for two, Thats fun too. Have a FUNtastic time no matter what you chose

Artist Point @ the Wilderness Lodge is very nice w/ excellent service, atmosphere, and food. The Northwest cuisine was very good. We had a table overlooking the pool and Bay Lake. The pace is more relaxed than some of the other restaurants.:)

I don't think any of the signatures (except V&A) have out of this world desserts but I think Jiko has the best appetizers out of all of the signatues. Unless you like sushi, then I would go to CG. Otherwise, I would select Jiko.

My vote is for Cali Grill...best view of the fireworks hands down :thumbsup2 It's also very romantic :lovestruc be sure to ask for a table by the windows and be sure to book around the time of the fireworks. Have fun!

Wow, lots of recommendations! :) Thanks! I really hadn't considered Artist Point, simply because I already live in the Pacific Northwest. We don't do sushi, though we'd try vegetarian ones. I'd leaned toward Cali Grill just because I'd imagine the view must be amazing - we had a corner window at Ohana last visit and could see the MK and that was pretty cool. I'm concerned more about the whole experience/view/ambience rather than the best food per se, though of course I'd like the food to be good or the experience won't be great either. :) I'll have to keep thinking about it - thanks for all the suggestions!

Artist Point is wonderful. Food, service and atmosphere are good for a romantic dinner for 2.

If you want to see the fireworks at MK Narcoosie at the GF is also a nice view. DH and I celebrated our anniversary there 2 years ago and the service and food are very good and atmosphere is nice also. There is a walkway outside the restaurant and you can walk outside to watch Wishes or if you have a window table you can see from inside.

I would have to say Cali Grill. It is our fav Signature dining. ALL the food we have had is wonderful!

Dh and I did Jiko in Oct and it was out of this world incredible.....2 months later the boy is still raving about that meal!

OP - If I read you correctly, you only want appetizers and dessert, is that correct? Personally I would not make an ADR for a Signature Restaurant if I did not plan on eating a full meal there. It takes a table away from someone trying to eat their dinner.
We love Jiko. It is a beautiful restaurant with great wine selection and delicious entrees. It also had one of my favorite appetizers of the trip, the chicken flatbread.
Have a Great Trip.
