First ever WDW trip, early May, 4 adults.
We only have one day in HS, so we won't be able to fit in all the shows.
Which ones are the best, and which are okay to skip?

We really like Beauty & the Beast and then probably Lights, Motor, Action. Indiana Jones is ok but not great. Fantasmic is my favorite nighttime show at WDW.

I agree with the previous poster.

Do you have kids? gender/ages? That could help people to help you pick. ;)

I agree with the pp I seen Indiana Jones once and was not impressed it was ok but will not do it again.I love Beauty and the Beast and I never miss Fantasmic!

Lights Motors Action - must see
Beauty & the Beast - meh...it's alright...depends how much you love the movie
Indiana Jones - pretty cool...get there early...sit as close to the front & center...when they ask for volunteers go absolutely BANANAS!!! It's worth it, trust me!
Fantasmic - AMAZING...definite must see

If you guys get there for rope drop you should have absolutely no problem seeing all of these shows in one day.

"Do the best of the best and forget the rest" - TourGuideMike - don't waste your precious time with "filler" attractions.

If you truly give it a full day, you should be able to see pretty much everything you want to see. For us, Fantasmic and Beauty and the Beast are consistently the most entertaining shows. For a twist on being amused, you might check out one of the Jedi Training Academy "shows," even if you don't have kids. It's pretty entertaining to watch the kids interact with Darth Vader, and the Jedi Master can be pretty funny, too. Depending on how you define "show," I would also ensure that you hit One Man's Dream, including the video at the end.

Fantasmic - nothing compares, vary unique, worth doing at least once
Lights Motors Action - sports cars + pyrotechnics, it's a mans dream come true! need I say more
Indiana Jones - I actually like this show and find it entertaining and funny
The Jedi kids - glad someone mentioned this because they are so cute and funny to watch, I always get a kick out of watching them.

I don't like Beauty in the Beast. It felt like a half done high school performance. I actually feel I've seen better done high school performances, but everyone else in my family loves it.

Little mermaid isn't my favorite show either, even though she was my favorite princess as a kid. It's ok, but just nothing special to me. I can take it or leave it.

Muppet Vision is fun in a corny kind of 3d way, but I can take it or leave it as well.

The Pirate show is interesting in a "I can't believe that's a hologram up there. It looks like a real person." kind of way, but the show itself is kind of strange, and you stand throughout it, you don't sit. Plus it's pretty short.

Fantasmic for sure - stay and watch the 2nd show - it will be less crowded.
Beauty and the Beast - a nicely done show
Voyage of the Little Mermaid - a classic
LMA - lots of action
Jedi Training Academy - if anyone in your party like Star Wars

We really love Indiana Jones. Warm and inviting set, lots of live actors, lots of action, many things going on at the same time, and the surprise scene with the airplane. Love it!

I had a chance to be one of the audience volunteers once, boy was that a blast.

Lights, Motor, Action always seems to have plenty of seats, and the all seem good. I'm always amazed that the park can absorb the huge crowd that exits after the show!

We were underwhelmed by Beauty & the Beast - didn't plan to see it on our last trip, but ended up going again. Will probably skip this next time.

Our kids loved Indiana Jones. But it is a stunt show. And the same show from 20 years ago. Wait. 25 now. Stunts are cool - but without the quick cuts of a camera - get very close examination...

I still really like the Little Mermaid show. The puppets are pretty cool.

The Playhouse Disney is great for the under seven crowd.

I still like the Muppets one. Even as dated as it has become.

Pass on Pirates. It's a revolving door show. Okay if time. Pass if not.

Fantasmic is not to be missed.

Thanks everyone! I'll definitely plan to stay for the later Fantasmic show, and we'll try to fit in as many others as we can.

No one mentioned the American Idol thing…

That's because it doesn't "fit" with the title of your thread!;) If you've fit in everything and want to get out of the heat, it can be entertaining because you do get to vote. The theater is maybe half full at most and this was for the final show of the day!

I think its because the other shows have all been around forever, so lots of people have had a chance to watch them. However, in Disney terms, American Idol is a newer show.

Also, it's mainly people auditioning, so not sure that really appeals as much to families with little kids. The finale show looks like it might be worth it, after they've weeded out the decent people, but by then, its dinner time, and we just never seem to be able to fit it in. I guess if you are big fan of the show, it would be worth going to.

On another thread you mentioned that you've been to DL many times. Of the shows already mentioned Muppets 3-D is absolutely identical with the pre-show and show in DCA. Fantasmic! has better seating in DHS, but most (inc. our family) like the show at DL much better. DHS has a Pocahontas sequence instead of Peter Pan/Captain Hook and the Mark Twain provides a better ending than the DHS "boat." It is worth seeing once, but goingo to the second show will usually mean less waiting in line time.

As far as attractions at DHS that are similar/same at DL - Toy Story Mania has a different queue, but the ride itself is the same. TOT has enough differences to make it worth riding. I can't do Star Tours, but I think the ride is the same, although the queue may be different.

Although this guide was written for the benefit of a DW veteran visiting DLR for the first time, it will help you with the differences in the 2 resorts:
