Hi! My 2 boys, 6 and 4, and my husband and I, will be traveling for or first time to Disney in December. Not sure what would be the best walking shoe so any advice would be great! Also, is it too cold for sandals? I read that the rainstorms come and go, but who wants to walk around in wet sneakers? : )

Thank you!

We have been over 16 times and we always wear sneakers. We love Sketchers. They are great there is even an outlet store in Orlando premium outlets if you have a car. Buy one pair get 50% off the next.

I've done Teva style sandals and sneakers.

It does get cool at night in December. I went in December for my honeymoon and had to put a light sweater on most nights; sandals would likely be okay during the day if you want to switch it up.

I personally would recommend making sure you break your shoes in before you go. I also always have two pairs of shoes when I travel in case one pair gets wet.

I would wear what your feet are used to at that time.

I can easily wear flip flops around the park because I wear them and keens all summer long. I could not wear sneakers (we go in the summer) because I don't wear them all the time and we like to get wet.

I don't know the temps on December but maybe in the day time you can wear sandals.

I think it depends in December. Both times we've gone toward the end of December, it was too cold for sandals. Of course, we're from Texas, so our cold might be different than yours. We are going in November and I have tennis shoes for everyone. We bring two pairs in case it rains. The first trip we only had one pair and it poured, but we had a dryer, so it was okay. We are trying to wear ours from time to time so we get them broken in before the trip. We do bring sandals or flip flops for the room and pool.

Good thing we have Skechers...let's hope their feet don't outgrow them by December!

I have flat and wide feet and need a lot of arch support. I can walk all day in my Brooks Dyad running sneakers. For sandals or shoes that dry quickly, keen, chaco, crocs and teva seem to be the most popular from what I've seen in the threads when others ask about shoes. I wear Telic which is similar to crocs, but I find them to be more comfy. My son who's now 4 has been wearing stride rite since he was little. He has never complained about any foot pain.

Thank you for the suggestions! I tend to get Charlie horses from lots of walking no matter how much water I drink. I definitely need arch support!

For me...for winter trips...I wear a premium jogger...just because a sneaker designed for distance running is going to support you through days of heavy walking at Disney. It also doesn't need much if any break in time. I can usually put in 6-10 miles in a new pair of distance joggers by day 2 of wear without any issue. I try to do the same for the kids for cold weather visits, but they don't seem to need quite as much cushion and support b/c they are young LOL. While I may do anything from New Balance, Asics, Brooks or Saucony for me...I've had my best luck with New Balance for the kids. Keens are our go-to for summer trips.
