Best shoes for Disney World

So many people swear by Crocs that I bought a pair of Mary Janes. I was walking the mall all day last week in them and came home with sore feet and a huge blister. Mary Janes won't be included in my shoes to take to WDW. I am still looking for "the ones".

I don't think the Mary Janes are designed for all day walking like the original "Beach" style. Yes, I agree the Beach style is not all that fashionable, but they are heaven when it comes to walking all day in the world. But as my previous post states, we pair them with a new cotton pair of socks & Bodygilde as well.

Be sure you purchase the Beach style crocs a full size larger than you typically wear. I wear a seven, so I purchase a womans 8. :santa: :santa: :santa:

What is bodyglide and where can it be purchased? Do you just put in on in the am or does it need reapplied?

Thanks for the tips

Bodyglide looks like roll on deoderent. You just rub it all over your feet where you might get a blister. I have also heard of people rubbing it between their thighs or any where else you might get chapped or iratated. I love it. I put it on two times a day. With the Body glide and my crocs I don't have any feet problems. Gotta love it.
I buy mine at Sports Authority but I have also been told that REI sales it too.

Last week was my 16th (I think) trip to Disney, and for the first time ever I came home with ZERO blisters. I mean not one, and out of all the members in my family I always was the one that suffered the most with blisters. (And I'm talking really bad and very painful). So, for me it's New Balance tennis shoes from now on. I would make sure you had enough room in them though, since your feet will swell with all that walking and the heat.

Now, this trip I did pinch a nerve in my back that bothered me. Maybe it was from the shoes... maybe not. :confused3 Painful as that was, I'll take it over the blisters any day.

The Crocs I've never tried, but am afraid to. My mother bought a pair before the trip, but forgot to pack them. She says they're pretty comfortable. She bought hers here at home. She tried some on at the parks and said they weren't as comfortable as her pair back home.

I will have to say is crocs too. Just because if it starts to rain you are not in wet tennis shoes all day.princess:

When I first read this on the Dis Boards, I have been a BELIEVER ever since.
For the past 4 years, we have sworn by this combo !!!

1. The standard "Beach" style croc is the Best!!!
2. But we go in December & pair the croc with.............
3. A brand new fresh pair of all cototn socks.
4. BodyGlide all over the top/bottoms/sides of our feet before applying the BodyGlide.

I can only speak from 4 years of absolute BLISS when it comes to our feet & legs after walking all day (we are commandos), it is HEAVEN !!!!
NO pain in the legs or feet when you go to bed or even the next morning !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The advice of using worn in sneakers does NOT work when you are on your feet all day, but Crocs, BodyGlide, & fresh all cotton socks is truly our FAMILY SECRET !!!!!!!!!:santa: :santa: :santa:
I love the body glide tip. Used it when I was training for and during the Chicago Marathon ages ago, never thought about it for WDW with my Crocs! THANKS!!

Another tip - you can use the aerosol deodorant for your feet to prevent blisters. Very easy - I just spray down everyone's feet as we're about to walk out the door and they slip on their Crocs. No blisters. :thumbsup2

Tho I do love my "Mickey" crocs (beach style), For all day walking ...the other croc styles I find to be risky, and got the blisters to prove it.

BUT.......I do love, love, love my Teva Mush sandals. Went to WDW Sept. '08, and it was really hot. I would have died in tennis shoes and socks. I took several pairs of Teva Mush and lived in them all day long. My legs felt great and no blisters!!!! Thanks to a tips form fellow Disers....I ordered the Tevas online...super cheap. I even ordered pairs for DH and my college age son. My son says he lives in the three pair I gave him and wants to know when I'm going to order more.

DH wears tennis shoes and socks, but always gets a few blisters. I took Body Glide for him.....and now he swears by it! Don't leave home without it!

I'm curious where did you order your Teva's from? I've been kind of looking for a pair of these but can't find them locally so was wondering about ordering a pair?? Thanks for the input!

I've got a pair of flip flops made by Speedo that I got at Kohls years ago for ten bucks and they are amazing. I think they're supposed to be water shoes or something, but I wear them everywhere! The soles are as good as any pair of gym shoes I've ever had. I love them because they work rain, shine, or splash mtn LOL.

Just a heads up, www.shoebuy.com is running a sale today only 20% of your entire order!!! Use code DAYLIGHT2008

Don't want anyone to miss out on this discount how had a purchase planned.

Happy shopping!!

Are the beach style crocs the original style?
Yes, they are.

1. BodyGlide all over your feet.
2. Brand new pair of all cotton socks.
3. Place on your beach style crocs (yes, the ugly ones).

Result, is a GLORIOUS day of happy feet & even better, the next morning your feet & your legs will say THANK YOU !!!!! :santa: :santa: :santa:

Ok so I am not a Croc person anyways but I can't even imagine wearing socks with them. I am SO not a fashionista but the little bit of Stacey and Clinton that I have in me just sobbed. Crocs and socks...so wrong.

OP: Love my Teva Mush. I bought them on sale at REI (the outlet section) In person I have found them at DSW.

I do agree with you about my prior post & I too love Stacey & Clinton, but remember, my DIS name is "DisneyNDecember", so when we go, we are wearing pants 90% of the time, so you can't see the socks. :)

When it is very warm (like it was last year in December), we still wear our Crocs & BodyGlide, but without the socks. :)

Good point !!!! It does NOT look attractive at all with socks & shorts. :santa: :santa: :santa:

My favorites are Teva Mush flip flops

I wore Teava's and loved them.

TEVA MUSH for me too. :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 I'm an avid flip-flop wearer and I lived in these our past 3 trips. They're thicker than regular flip-flops and very cushy - no foot, leg, or back pain whatsoever after a full week in the parks. REI usually has them pretty reasonable, and DSW usually carries them if you can't wait for shipping...though they may be gone for the season - I haven't been there in a while.

I don't get how everyone says that crocs are "the best wdw shoes", but yet they require socks, or body glide, or moleskin, or spray on deodorant, etc. to make them comfortable and prevent blisters. I mean, how "comfy" are they if you need to use all of that stuff to be able to wear them?? I LOVE the mammoth ones, but common sense tells me that plastic shoes + summer heat + lots of walking does not = comfort???

I wear the Croc capri flip flops & have absolutely no trouble whatsoever with back, feet or leg pain......I have 4 different pairs that I switch off between depending on whatever color clothes I'm wearing! I also have the Croc wooley Mammoth shoes that I wear in the winter whenever Florida has a cold snap......:rolleyes1 I have a pinched psyciatic nerve and these shoes have been the best possible ones that I could ever find. :santa:

I just ordered 2 pair of Teva Mush sandals from amazon.com. They had one style for only $15, the other was $21, I think -- free shipping. I've been wearing them around the house all week to see how they feel. So far so good. I was a bit worried the fabric on top would cut into the top of my foot, but it has loosened up. They are nothing fancy, but they seem more cushiony than regular old flip flops. I bought some crocs, but took them back. I just can't do the ugly shoe! ;)
