Best shoes for Disney World rain?

My husband and sons are the same way! We were actually just talking about this last night and I told them that they need to each get another pair of sneakers this weekend so they have time to break them in before our trip. We are going in August for two weeks and with the daily thunderstorms, their sneakers will never dry overnight.
We take a pair of small portable shoe dryers that slip into each shoe and use those if needed. I think I bought them on Amazon, and I don't believe they are expensive. They have always dried my mesh sneakers overnight.

My wife loves her Keens for WDW. Stay away from anything with an absorbent bottom cushion if it's raining.

I wear a leather sandal but switch to a Keen style if rain is imminent.

Either way we've spent a number of nights with our strong hair drier (which we bring with us) pointed into our shoes/sandals to dry them out. Dr. Schol's spray is also good to prevent nasty feet. We bring a can in our luggage just in case. Nothing worse than swamp feet/shoes.

Teva also makes a few really great options that wouldn't absorb the water.

I'm going to be the weird one here. I always wear tennis shoes to the parks not just any cheap pairs but good ones that provide a lot of support. You walk SO MUCH that support is key. I always take two pairs of good broken in tennis shoes. I'm generally not out running and splashing in puddles so my shoes even on rainy days don't get that wet.

We generally go back to the room at some point anyways during the day. When we do and my shoes are wet I'll take them off and put them upside down on top of a vent to help them dry and I put on my other pair. I always bring extra socks. By doing this my first pair of shoes get dry and I have dry feet the rest of the day.

Interested in this thread too. I love my Teva Verra Sandals. Anyone know if the strap holds up in the rain (i.e. since velcro)?
I have worn both Teva Tirra and Verra in the parks, and both have gotten wet. I didn't have any problem with the straps holding up. I did take them off to wipe water out of the footbeds after getting soaked. It wasn't necessary because my feet don't slide around in them, but it just feels better! I have also worn them in rivers and streams when trout fishing and hiking, and they have held up fine.

i also adore my Crocs and I literally always have on a pair in my house—but I never wear them in public LOL However, I’ve noticed that some colors are much slicker than others (obviously something with that dye color and the plasticizer). My slick ones are crazy slick when wet, but the more matte colors aren’t like that. So I’d say if you think you might like Crocs, just look for a less slick/shiny color.

That's interesting, and I've never heard that about some colors being slicker than others. I do have to say that I have a pair that are plain old brown, not shiny at all, and they are very very slippery when wet. To be fair, they are very old, so maybe they're just worn down.

Keen's women's and men's sandals....airy and waterproof and look good

I ordered a pair of Teva Tirra the other day. I hope I like them!

One man's perspective...I've never been a 'sandal' fan - just never liked my foot being fully exposed and my toes vulnerable...I used to wear various sneakers to Disney, but they are always hot, sweaty, and when wet they stay wet inside for too long, generally require socks or they can get stinky, and take way too long to dry back in the room. I wore Crocs for a season or two, trying out something new - I liked the breathability and general comfort, but didn't like how much my feet slid around inside when they got wet.
I tried Merrill open-back mule-style mesh shoes and really liked them - covered toe, but breathable, and dried decently well too. Then I experimented with Sketchers Equalizer slip ons - very light, mesh, breathable, didn't require socks, dried fast - though I found that having a back on the shoe like a sneaker made them squeak quite loudly when I walked as the back rubbed on my heel - so I tended to wear them with socks, defeating the waterproof purpose a bit. I finally settled on Sketchers Equalizer Coast to Coast mules...and they've been a perfect Disney shoe now for the past 5 years. Light, quick dry, no socks needed, slide on and off fast, no noises, good traction, very good comfort for miles of walking, breathable mesh. Now it's pretty much all I wear at Disney.

I like my good old Crocs for rainy days. Nice thick soles, and they dry super quickly once you’re out of the rain.

I'm THAT person. I do flip flops. Used to be Reef Sandy but they have changed so now I wear Roxy. I always make sure the flip flops have a decent sole (not smooth plastic). This year I'll also be bringing a spare dry pair into the parks with me because that wet fabric strap leads to some ugly blisters. I do flip flops because I can't handle socks and sneakers in heat and I made the mistake of thinking my Keens were comfortable one August and ended up with epic blisters day one, because apparently my feet swell just enough in the heat to make my Keens no longer comfortable in that much walking.

Whatever you opt for, take those shoes for a LONG walk on the hottest day you have at home prior to departure and make sure they're as comfortable as you thought they were prior to that walk. Some of my most comfortable shoes at home have turned out to be my least comfortable at Disney.

can I ask what style socks you were in your Vessis? For some reason the shoes really hurt the top of my feet when wearing no-show ankle socks, but I don't want them peeping out the tops either.

I have a pair of the Weekend sneakers and the Everyday sneakers. I either wear just regular ankle socks (Puma's i bought at TJ Max) or J Crew no show socks. I have found that you can't really tie the laces too tight or they put too much pressure on the top of the foot where the laces are tied.

I absolutely must have arch support in my shoes - so I own a couple pairs of sandals from Vionic. They have a few women and men styles that don't have heels and have basically a foot bed made of plastic, but the upper is fabric or leather that dries fast. I normally have to wear a supportive sneaker with socks, but on rainy days, I can last most of a day wearing these. A lot of the women's style have a toe post - which I despise - but they have a few models that don't. And some of the men's style really could be called unisex.

I love my Teva Tirras for walking around the parks.
I got them to wear kayaking and walking through streams/creeks and they have no issues being wet at all.

In addition to shoes that handle water well, I recommend wearing athletic clothes instead of cotton for summer travel.

My husband is a long time sneaker and socks guy. Until this summer. After years of getting him to at least try Teva, he finally did and he couldn't be happier.

After spending many visits drying out socks and shoes in our hotel room - on days when it's likely to rain, we always throw our crocs in the backpack along with our ponchos. It's great, since we don't have to worry about dodging puddles or hiding from the rain. We have the classic design, and not only are they comfortable, but we never slip or slide while walking through the parks! They dry quickly, so we can then switch back to our socks and sneakers after the shower.

We were there last week and I wore my keens. They were perfect. It rained some while we were there, but they dry quickly. I bought Them 10-12 years ago to wear on a field trip to Puerto Rico with my sons school. Highly recommend.

I love my ECCO Yucatán sandals for Disney regardless of if there is rain or not. I have also used Teva’s but like the ECCO’s better when wet.
I recently got a pair of Vessi’s and plan to take them this trip. So far they have been very comfortable.

Has anyone worn Olukai flip flops in the parks? I just got a pair and like them a lot, they have great arch support, but they're kind of heavy.

Just returned from a 9 day trip with my wife and I both wearing Olukai flip flops 7-9 miles per day. Overall they were very comfortable and dried quickly when it rained.
