I am trying to get cheap room rates... so going in September

but I can't decide between 1,2,3 rd week of september

I figure 1st week could be busy because of labor day..and 4th week I could miss out on FREE dining assuming it is offered....I think I read as long Ias I start my trip on a free dining day...it applies even if it officailly ends during my stay..is this right???

I figure the lateest in sept may be the coolest....instead of 100 only 95 degrees!
:rotfl2:

so...what would you do?

We have been going the third or fourth week of September for the past couple of years. The weather is STILL HOT. 89-95 degrees. However, it cools off at night and is quite enjoyable. Other than the occasional rain shower, the weather is agreeable. Crowd levels are low. I walked on EE multiple times last year and we went the second week of September. Longest wait we had was 40 minutes...and I can't even remember for which attraction.

If you go later on in Sept, you can also go to the Not So Scary Halloween Party, which is fantastic.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed from FREE DINING! Make sure you get your ADRs in early...

Happy Planning! See you in September! I'll be there the 19-25.

yes, I was there one Halloween a few years back...it was pretty neat...I tried January about 2 years ago...and it rained..wether was horrible the whole time...and a few years before that ( 4 years? ) I was in the middle of a major hurricane, cant remember the name...FREE DINING... yes, I am counting on it!

We usually go for the first few weeks of September, the weather is great and the queues are short. Even Labour Day weekend is not too bad.

The past couple of years we have gone the 1st weekend in September and we love it! We like that it's still hot, well, it's more humid than actually hot! MK does get crowded the night before Labor Day and on Labor Day but other than that, the rest of the week is pretty low crowds. What we do during the summer is try to walk 3 miles in our neighborhood every evening. That will not only get you in shape and prepare you for all the walking but it will also get your body use to the heat and humidity.

I think that the least crowded time to go is the week after Labor Day. If I could, I would go that week. We went the last week in Sept and was there for my birthday and while it wasn't terribly crowded, I felt it was busier than I expected. The week we went was the start of F&W, end of free dining, and during MNSSHP time. Sept is hot all month so I think I would base it on crowds.

This past year, we went the last week of September. We checked in on the last Saturday of September (9/24) and that was also the last day of the free dining offer. But since we were checking in that day, we were eligible for it for the duration of our stay.

The weather was still hot - low 90's all week. Only had one day of rain but from what I heard, it had rained a lot the week prior. The week after we were there a "cold front" was coming through and the weather was expected to be in the low 80s which I don't think is typical.

We found the crowds very tolerable and from what I understand, it was even busier than normal. At the end of our week was the 40th anniversary which drew in a lot of crowds, and it was also the start of F&W Festival and the Wine & Dine half marathon which made Epcot very crowded. But the earlier part of the week was fine crowd-wise for us.

I went last year during labor day and it was pretty busy and during free dining the crowds do spike. Touringplans.com has a pretty accurate crowd calendar if youre interested.

When we lived in Florida, I would take DD for her birthday (which is 9/9) and the MK would always be closing early on two nights for the Night of Joy event. Just something to keep in mind if you plan to spend evenings in the MK.

THe end of September/beg of Oct. is our favorite time to go. The weather is perfect - yes hot during the day, cooler at night; i highly recommend that time; the lines were very manageable and i didn't feel crowded at all.

And we had free dining!

Now with all that said... We are from PA and i had no idea what a Love Bug was... but they were nasty and everywhere. Now Animal Kingdom was the worst; everywhere else they were just annoying but the day we were in Animal Kingdom we actually left cause the swarms were so bad. They don't bite or anything they are just annoying like a million lightening bugs everywhere. I wish someone would have told me about them.

But we didn't let it ruin our trip! (and they were pretty much gone by the time we left)
