Best Sandal for Disneyland

I have very wide & flat feet. ( I swear I have the same feet as Donald Duck!) The only flip-flops I wear are Crocs. I think they are very comfortable. However, if anyone knows of another flip-flop/sandal that is for very wide feet (3E-4E), I'd appreciate it.

I have wide feet (D-E) but I have a high arch, too. That makes many styles with straps impossible for me to wear and "delicate" looking shoes look ridiculous on me. OTOH, "chunky" shoes make me look like a cavewoman. Inf flips, I do really well with Sanuks & Keens, but have not had good luck with the Crocs. Not because of the width, but because they are so hard and uncomfortable. Maybe it's just the kind I have--I think they're called Oceans and they're on the lower end so probably not the same kind you have. At home I like Born shoes but they don't work for me in the parks, I've discovered. My favorite non-sandals are EasySpirits. I like Keens, too, but they cost too much. I have 3 pairs of the ES slides that are kind of felty and I love them. I have never gotten their sandals, though--not sure why. Guess they haven't gone on sale on zulily :lmao:

ETA: Clarks are usually too narrow for my feet. Those I have to try on as they do have wider ones but they're not very consistent with what is "wide" IME.

Bernie Mevs. In the parks, the styles I do are the comfi open toe, or the cuddly or charm closed toe. Last summer I wore them for a 13 hour day at DL/CA and my feet weren't even tired at the end of the say- I turned around and wore my other pair the next day for another 12 hour day (I don't like to wear the same shoes 2 days in a row). They are very lightweight which I think is part of why they are easy to wear for the full day- they don't weigh you down. Also the top conforms to your foot, so it doesn't really move or rub and create sore spots. I'm very blister prone, so I still use Body Glide to be safe, but I'm not sure I need it in them. The one thing about them is that you don't want to wear a brand new pair out of the box at Disney- if they are brand new you want to wear them about 2 hours before spending a whole day walking in them. They stretch to conform to your foot, and so if you wear them more than more than 3 hours the first day for much walking they might feel a little tight (at least for me with a wide foot they do), once I've worn them a couple of hours the 2nd day I can walk in them from morning to night and they are great!

I like crocs or birkenstocks for in the parks. I wore my birks at WDW and it worked out great. I have worn crocs at DLR many times and it was all good.

Another vote for Keen's (from another Oregonian!). I'm heavy and just love the balance of a firm yet cushioned sole.

Just another recommendation after doing some research: Sanita and Dansko

Both companies are well-known for their clog-style shoes, and are incredibly popular with folks like nurses and teachers who are on their feet all day (believe me, we have customers coming into the store asking if we carry them in our location. Unfortunately, we don't!) However, I haven't heard much about their sandal lines. DSW has the "Carmel" flat sandal listed online, which, just by looking at it, seems to have some arch support in them. And the leather straps look soft enough that they probably won't rub your skin raw.

Check out their respective websites, Zappos and Amazon for both brands and look for their flat sandals to see what you think! :)

Another vote for Keen. I have 3 pair of them and am a big fan. I also would throw in some honorable mention for Sanuk and Chaco. If you are looking for sturdy sandals with good arch support Chaco's rock! I have had 3 pair of them (in different styles) for over 12 yrs and they are still awesome. Plus they have a lifetime warranty on the foot bed and straps and you can even re-sole them if they wear out.

Thank you all for the input. Keen seems very popular! If I get a chance to pick some up for a good price I will. I'm looking into the other brands mentioned too. I will probably bring 3 pairs. Last time My Reeboks got soaked on GRR and still were not dried out when we left the next afternoon. So it's better to have extra and not need them.

Keens are also good. I have some that I wear to work because they are closed toe.

My feet aren't as wide as yours, but they are wide enough to cause problems when edema kicks in from standing/walking all day in the parks. That'll make feet even wider. You might consider checking out MENS Keen sandals, which are a few millimeters wider than the women's versions. I wear men's athletic shoes in the parks and there's no difference in support from women's shoes, they just give me enough width room to keep all my feet-parts moving naturally.

Here's another vote for Chaco's! I inherited 2 pair from my sister, (thanks sis!) they are a Godsend for any situation. One has a thicker sole & the other not as thick, but they are both sturdy and have good arch support, which is very important to me! didn't realize they have a lifetime warranty, thanks! Seeing as I live in Alaska and can't wear them year round, they are still in excellent shape! I have wide feet + bunions, which makes it hard to find good comfortable shoes. I think with any shoes, it's a good idea to take a load off every so often, and also switch shoes. Happy Theme Park walking!!

When I was at DL last summer, I bought a pair of Croc loafers with Mickey on them. Best shoes ever. I got a heel blister and had to break them in the hard way, but now I am taking them back all broken in for another spin. Footie socks help avoid the initial blister. If they still sell them - I recommend them highly. I need arch support and they seem to give it even though it's hard to see. I also have a bunion issue with some shoes, anf these were roomy. I wear a 7 1/2 and these are an 8, the size I usually wear in Crocs sandals is a 7. My other favorite is a croc sandal. I only wear Danskos or Sanitas at work for my picky feet, but at the park it's Crocs all the way!

My absolute favorite, most comfy shoe is from merrell ( I think that's the spelling). I actually wear their flip flops into the parks. They have great arch support and the footbed is just so so comfortable! They have really cute flips and slides AND they stay on your foot like a shoe! I tried Keens one year, and I liked them, but I definitely like Merrell's so much better!

My husband ended up buying a pair of those crocs with mickey on them too. Somehow his tennis shoes that had been fine at home everyday, started giving him a terrible blister on the bottom of his foot. The crocs seemed expensive at the time from the DTD store, but it was worth it not to have him limping in pain. They were comfortable for him even with the blister he had. He brought them on a later trip too, and plans to bring them again.
