We are staying at the Double Tree on Hotel Plaza Blvd. We are coming from IN and Mapquest and AAA are both reccommending to take the FL Turnpike all the way to I4 and then over to Exit 68. Seems to me it might be better to get off the Turnpike at exit 267 and either take 429 to Western Way and over or even take 535 down to Hotel Plaza blvd? Anything to stay off of I4!

Anyone have any suggestions?

TIA

Well if you were staying onsite at WDW Resort there is no doubt in my mind that taking the 429 to Western Way and getting off at exit 8 would be the way to go. It's a lot faster and there are virtually no cars on their road compared to Interstate 4.

However looking at where your staying it might be eaiser to just go along Interstate 4 because once you get off exit 68, go down 535 and turn past the Walt Disney World entrance over there, your Hotel is right there.

note that on 429 you will have to pay tolls you can purchase a sunpass
Purchasing a SunPass Mini Sticker transponder or SunPass Portable transponder is easy because they are available for purchase at over 1100 Publix Super Markets and CVS pharmacy stores, and from AAA in Florida. They can also be purchased at Navarro Pharmacies and Sedano's Markets in Broward and Miami-Dade Counties, and all Turnpike service plazas and Turnpike gas stations and the SunPass Service Center

The OP will also need to pay tolls on the Florida Turnpike.

However they won't need to purchase a Sun Pass when they are on the Turnpike or 429 because the tolls can also be paid with cash.

Skipping 429 south and continuing on the Florida's Tpk east all the way to I-4 has an advantage.

Via 429 (Western Beltway) to Hartzog Road/Flamingo Crossings (Western Way) you quickly land on Buena Vista Drive near Blizzard Beach. There are oodles of traffic lights crosstown east/west (east) on Buena Vista undulating straight shot to Hotel Plaza Blvd.

To pay cash tolls on 429 and also at various other toll plazas in the Orlando area you must watch for and go down what looks like an exit ramp. Here the center through lanes are only for electronic toll paying (e.g. Sunpass).

I agree with the routing via I-4. As Seashore mentioned, there are just way too many traffic lights along Buena Vista Drive between where you'd enter Disney property and your hotel. And they're all designed to stop you.

Thanks for the info CR Fan, Bob and Seashore. Since we should be hitting town early evening on a Saturday I think we'll go on in to I4 and hope that traffic is managable by then.

Thanks again!
