Flying in on a Friday morning 7/10/15 to MCO. Which route is best? 417? 528? 417 seems to go directly near there. Not sure of construction, hence the question.

My recommendation on a Friday morning would be to take the south exit and use 417 to get there. There is usually much less traffic than 528. You can follow 417 to exit 3 (Osceola Parkway) and that will lead you directly to AKL.

Sorry, I don't know if there is any construction, but you can probably find something on the FL DOT website or maybe the Orlando Sentinel.

You are probably going to miss the morning rush hour.

North exit out of airport. Left at first light (Frontage Rd.)
Curve to left, then left at next light (Conway) and quickly another left to get onto 528 West.
Watch for and take "exit ramp" needed to pay toll if you do not have a Florida toll transponder e.g. Sunpass. Suggest getting receipt.
End of 528 go west (southwest) onto I-4.
Take Osceola Parkway West exit off of I-4. (It's beyond green line on map below but the exit is shaped the same including WDW welcoming arches.)
All the way to end (take small bear left instead of going into Animal Kingdom proper).
There's another light (Sherberth); straight ahead is Animal Kingdom Lodge.

Avoids the exact change tollbooth off of 417 Exit 3 that has given many non-Sunpass car renters toll troubles.

Disagree with the one above me. I almost always try to avoid I-4 at almost anytime as it gets congested. The South Exit out of the airport to 417 is almost always much quieter and more efficient. Also, I understand there is a long term construction project coming up on I-4 that's really going to mess things up. Not sure if that has started yet.

The long term construction on I4 will not effect southbound/westbound on I4 at 528. Its from Kirkman Rd to Maitland Blvd which is north of the 528 on ramp.

I4 in the SeaWorld area does not get as congested as other parts of I4 and personally, I like SeashoreCM's route and have used that exact route many times. It avoids the mainline toll at the airport for 528.
