What's the best route to take from MCO to WDW?

Our return flight is on a Sunday at 11:00am. Would heading to return the rental at 8:00am be sufficient? Probably use RAC at PORFQ to save a little time. That way we would only have to deal with security.

Most convenient place to gas up for the rental return?

Thanks

Leaving WDW (gearshift in Drive) by 8:01 AM should be sufficient for a car rented "at the airport". This will probably allow you half an hour to return the car and then it's 2 hours and counting 'til flight time.

Leaving WDW, get on I-4 east (northeast) then take 528 east. Watch for what looks like an exit ramp if you need to use cash (coins) to pay the toll (about a dollar). Get off Rte. 528 at its exit 9 (Tradeport). Left and cross under. Nice cheap gas station is right there to top off at and you're about 2 miles from the airport.

Leaving the gas station from its side exit (McCoy) turn left and left again onto Conway, Get into middle lane. Required right onto McCoy continuation, next light is 436 (Semoran), turn right to enter airport.

(Going to Disney, use north airport exit and go left at first light (Frontage Rd. to follow the above route in reverse.)

THe 417 route is the route we prefer. Its easy and we don't have to get on that congested dreadful I-4.

When we are driving from MCO to WDW there is a Super Target that is a Orange Blossom Trail exit and it right off the highway and very easy to get to. Plus is only a few exits from WDW. We get snacks, snacks and what ever else.

Takes 30 minutes to get to the airport from WDW.

We always fill up at the Hess station by DTD and head to the airport.

From the airport, we take 417S to 536W. There are a couple of tolls, but there's never any traffic!

Leaving WDW at 8:00 to go to the airport should be fine. Doing the above directions in reverse, take 536E to 417N. Right before you get onto 417, there's a Hess station on the right. We always fill up there.

We too prefer the 417 route due to lighter traffic (don't like I4). We fill up at the DTD Hess station prior to leaving for the airport.

Sunday morning ....

you are not going to see traffic no matter which way you go ... nothing serious anyway.

I prefer the 417 (south) route myself but frankly ... WDW is SO over-signed that I usually get cornfused and just look for signs to the airport!!!!!

I live near and in my last 5 trips to Disney I KNOW I've taken 5 different paths out . . .

gas up the night b4 and save the receipt ... you'll be "in the window"

Agree with pp - use 417 to 536 and then reverse on the way back to MCO. We also stop at the Hess station just before getting on 417 when returning the rental car. There are 2 tolls on 417 (each way there are 2) - they are $1.50 each. You will have to stay to the right for the toll booth unless you rent the Sunpass option for the car. When exiting MCO just follow the signs for the South exit and that will take you right to 417 and then just follow the signs. Its very easy and you should not have any trouble getting to and from.

We also use the 417 route. Super easy and zero traffic. If we are at the MK before leaving, we fill up at the HESS there. If not, we use the one right at the 417 ramp.

Believe it or not, the HESS in the Downtown Disney area is usually a little cheaper than the one right near the 417 ramp. (not by a whole lot, but cheaper nonetheless)

The 417 is by far the best way to go. Get off at Bonnet Creek and turn left. Follow the signs. You can't miss it as it is clearly marked.
